Security forces in Lahore picked up four suspects during a late night raid on Thursday in Lahore's Garhi Shahu area soon after agencies investigating the Data Darbar bombing traced the alleged suicide bomber to the locality.

Twelve individuals lost their lives in what officials had described as a suicide bombing targeting an Elite Force van detailed to the security of the Data Darbar shrine on Wednesday.

Agencies investigating the bombing said they had identified the motorcycle rickshaw used to transport the suspected bomber to the shrine.

The suspect took the rickshaw from near the railway station. Video footage obtained by the agencies reportedly shows that the rickshaw driver approached the bomber as the latter approached from Garhi Shahu
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies said they had shifted their focus to three major terrorist networks of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Punjab to uncover handlers/facilitators of the attack.

Talking about the ongoing investigation into the suicide blast, a senior police officer told Dawn that two high-profile teams had been assigned the task to go after three offshoots of the TTP and their facilitators.

He said the major focus was on Hizbul Ahrar, which had claimed responsibility for sending the teenage suicide bomber to Data Darbar on Wednesday.

He said the law enforcement agencies were using available resources to track down handlers who dropped the boy (suicide bomber) at the shrine.

The official further said that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab had examined the records of three terror groups, including the Ghazi Force and Jamaatul Ahrar.

He said Hizbul Ahrar, which claimed responsibility for the attack, was a splinter group of Jamaatul Ahrar headed by Muqarram Shah from Afghanistan.

Hizbul Ahrar had separated from Jamaatul Ahrar due to some internal rifts. It started operating separately to target primarily the law enforcement agencies in various parts of Pakistan.

In addition to that, the CTD, which is leading the entire investigation process, is also following other leads, like the possibility of the involvement of Daesh as well, he said.

The official further said the probe was being conducted along the lines of the 2017 Mall Road blast investigation, in which LEAs had successfully arrested the facilitator who dropped the suicide bomber near the target site a few minutes before the blast

Kill the facilitator with their families so they know the pain of losing someone you loved

And then we complain about lack of justice in Pakistan. How does one's family member carry the sin of the other. Please make sensible comments
IN Majority OF Cases families know that ttheir lal is going to kill some one so stop your nonsense and deal with iron hand is only option to safe innocent lives

They will than b labeled missing persons by PTM
When you deals with animal you have to bacame a animal its a only language they understand

it looks bizarre but after this incident ,I think neurosciences has been “weaponized.A surgically implanted improvised explosive device (SIIED) is an explosive device hidden inside the body of a person in order to commit a suicide attack. This type of terrorist weapon, more commonly known as Body Cavity Bomb and India import this technology and using against us.

Actually, in many cases families don't know. Also, killing families is a.) unethical, b.) counter-productive and c.) un-Islamic. This should cover the bases.

We should instead kill the people funding and sending brainwashed kids. The kids are just cannon fodder for them. The real venom lies in Indian consulates and NDS offices.

Than punish them as facilitators ..its not difficult to proove that they stayed over there place etc
As of know its easy they will pay or scare the judges and get a free pass like all the big dacots

talk to them in a language they understand, most of the families know the doings of their kids but they still dont stop them, so rather than filling up the cells and spending the tax payers money on them just give them a bullet in head. no PTM or media is bigger than the national security

Is this area known as somewhere where the Afghan refugee live? Or is it a Pakistani area mainly?

Is this area known as somewhere where the Afghan refugee live? Or is it a Pakistani area mainly?

No. It is old thickly populated area in the center of Lahore. I don't think, it is particularly known for Afghans.

No father in his right senses will chose the way (these derange have taken) for their kids. It is unfortunate that those which you call non Pakistani and their land as ALAQA GHAIR ( the land of others). I question this mentality because these were the people who were the liberator of Kashmir, which you call with pride Azad Kashmir today. Some thing has gone wrong with those tribes for too long since the British Empire, that the entire tribe was punished for the sin of one individual. (FCR) collective punishment. It is time to bring these regions into the jurisdiction of the Pakistani state. Because where they live in, is part of Pakistan and should not called ALAQA GHAIR and so does the people ,because they are Pakistani. I am glad that the PTI govt. is heading in that direction to address their grievances.

LAHORE: Security forces arrested five suspects believed to be involved in the Data Darbar blast on May 8 in the provincial capital. The death toll from the tragic incident has risen to 12 after one of the wounded succumbed to their injuries at the Mayo hospital, officials confirmed.

Meanwhile, a five-member joint investigation team has been formed to probe the suicide blast. A Home department notification, issued on Friday, named CTD RO Sohail Ashraf and Investigation Officer Muhammad Khalid as members of the team. Other included a representative each from Military Intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau and ISI.

According to officials, investigators have pieced together CCTV footage from across the city to determine the movement of the attacker. Through the clips, the investigators learnt about a tea stall which had opened in the Garhi Shahu area about three months ago and was frequented by the attacker.

Other footage showed the attacker getting into a rickshaw that took him to the Data Darbar via the railway station, officials revealed. Investigators are also on a lookout for two young men who could also be seen in the footage. They were walking near the bomber outside Data Darbar, all the while speaking on their mobile phones.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place near the shrine’s gate number 2 – used as an entrance for female visitors. The bomber detonated his explosives near a vehicle of the Elite Police.

“It was a suicide attack and a police van was targeted,” Punjab Inspector General Police Capt (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan later told the media.

They said the suicide bomber, believed to be 16 years old, attacked the Elite Police van at 8.44 am. He was wearing a shalwar kameez and a jacket. Footage from a nearby CCTV camera shows the suspect walking across the road to the Elite Police van where the blast took place.
