Seems to be this @bluesky is a false-flag Indian.

BD GDP capita has hit 1400 dollars and the GDP growth will rise from the current 7% to 8-9%, as the large infrastructure projects are completed in the next 2-7 years time.

BD is only racing with Sri Lanka in the Sub-Continent as India is simply for match for it's powerhouse economy.

@Rain Man

No words, just this...:omghaha::omghaha::rofl::rofl::omghaha:

How do you forecast a GDP growth of 8 to 9%, there is just no ingredints to raise GDP to that level currently. Where is that kind of investment money? Private sector is shy of investing in other industries, chemical, non-chemical and manufacturing ones. Power output is around 9000mw. Less power means less investment and less production base. So why do you think of a 8% growth only with garments?

Everyone speaks of 6% growth these years, and not 7% you have stated. We do not have to compare with Indian economy, because that's a 2 trillion (2000 million) USD economy. BD is less than 200million USD only.

When other SA nations exports have shrunk due to global recession our expected growth is over 7%, even with the outdated infrastructre .

In future with (2018/19 onwards):

1. the infrastructre investments currently in place (roads, rail, bridges, ports, airports, power etc) and
2. the growth of non-tradional exports/production (leather, light enginering, shipbuilding, white goods, ICT etc) and
3. structural changes from an agri based economy to a services/manufacturing economy and
4. economy shift to trade not aid (we have over $23bn in unspent aid) and
5. the shift in light manufacturing moving out of China to the EPZs being built in Bangladesh

Our GDP growth will easily top 8%....

Defence Budget has nothing todo with yours. There will never be hostilities from Bangladesh as current policy. You dont need to get concerned nor worried. Leave us alone, mind your your development SIR.

What makes you think 8% growth necessary for the development of the country. Its not about quantitative but qualitative growth. You have to see where the growth coming from and with what kind of capital.

I think we are doing great with 7% now without any significant FDI and external debt. We should keep this that way until our economy and per capita reaches certain level like higher middle income level. By that time we have enough university graduates, 100% literacy, good infrastructure, and huge domestic capital and entrepreneur.

Then the next push should come through to graduate to higher income country which is the most difficult part. If we push too hard now and get tangled with foreign capital and debt then we will get entrapped in middle income status like Thailand and other South East asian countries or even worse Argentina and Greece.

.
4000 dollar is very close to upper middle income country by world bank classification.They classify lower income below 1025 dollar,lower middle income 1026 to 4125 dollar and upper middle income is 4126 to 12735 usd. So according to WB Bangladesh just entered into lower middle income category.

Lower middle income country- yes. But, BD is sitting only in the lowest rung of this group. 8% growth is certainly a dream with such a low rate of investment. (8% you said - 6% currently = 2% additional growth will require (2% x 200m USD GNI) x 4 times of capital = 16 billion USD of more capital to be invested. Does BD have that kind of extra money?

Whatever growth so far BD has achieved is because it has brought efficiency to the once idle economic sector and by employing rural poor women at low salaries.. But, to achieve a meaningful and substantive 7, 8 or 9% growth it will require investment in technology based industries that produce goods with more values.

Before BD can do that it must ready itself with capital, trained people and electricity. This govt is trying its best to build the physical infrastructure, which itself is a required element for a better growth.. But, the country will need many billions of dollar investment every year to raise the GNI impressively.

@Species @UKBengali hahahahahahaha......at least someone is speaking the truth!! :D

Going by his logic, even India is underdeveloped.

Bangladeshis are the real cage birds, in spite of actually being Indians they are confined to a small piece of lowland with little resources. We Indians are ruled by ourselves, not by our neighboring country unofficially, and we have a very large country of global importance with all its resources, opportunities, heritage, and natural beauty and diversity to share and enjoy!

Please name one Bengali Prime Minister of India. :)

The current head of state, the President, is Pranab Mukherjee, Jyoti Basu declined the offer to become the Prime Minister, but why are you even asking such silly questions? Sk.Hasina came from one particular place in Bangladesh, not from all the places, so? Sectarian narrow minded silly Bangladeshis!! 8-)

Can you refute my points at all?

No need to refute 'kheyali pulao'!! :sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic:

President of India is just a ceremonial post, like the status of Bengalis as citizens of India. :lol:

I wonder why don't you give a straight answer that there has been no Bengali Prime Minister in India. :D

Nobody gives anybody a political post in a democracy, there is no authority, no king or queen to distribute posts of ministers!! And that's a silly way to be 'happy'. You don't understand democracy, do you? :lol:

I wonder with such mentality how all the divisions and districts of Bangladesh remain happy!! :D

BD is a REAL nation where 98% of citizens are ethnic Bengalis and 90% of those are Muslims.

India on the other hand.....LOL

Yeah I know that's a silly way to be happy, this is why they have used it over West Bengalis. :D

The fact remains, there has been no Bengali Prime Minister in India and will never be. :D
