India has more no of people living under 1$ than Bangladesh.

No it doesn't. By percentage terms Bangladesh absolute and relative poor is far higher than India. Check with World Bank or any other international organisation.

Consumption per person on average is double in India compared to Bangladesh. India would need a gini index of more than 50 or 60 to have more people in consumption poverty than Bangladesh.

23.6% of Indians live below 1.25 $ per day. 26% of bangalis live below 2$ per day. Do the math... No of Indians is higher.

Where are you pulling these numbers from? Why are you using two different classifications?

Are you seriously going to compare absolute numbers rather than % prevalence?

Thats like saying India is 14 times richer than Bangladesh.

For standardised poverty % in 2010 please refer to:

http://povertydata.worldbank.org/poverty/country/BGD

http://povertydata.worldbank.org/poverty/country/IND

It was 43.7% for Bangladesh in 2010 and 21.3% for India in 2011.

The World Bank has said poverty in India could be even lower at around 12% in 2011:

Wikipedia? o_O

Wikipedia is completely non-standardised and all over the place. You dont compare country A and B on some metric through wikipedia. You check the underlying sources, choose one for consistency and proceed from there.

Add to that Bangladesh statistics bureau analysis is something I do not trust (measurement is generally fine)....they have wildly different figures on various metrics compared to what an international organisation like World Bank has. So I don't trust Bangladesh "national" figures of poverty at all.:disagree:

World bank economic figure states that India has a economy bigger than bangladesh's but the no of people living under poverty line in India is more.

Hence why we should talk about % terms.

US has more extremely poor people than the whole of Cameroon (by a few multiples actually). Does that make Cameroon have less poverty than the US?

Under the same measurement system by World Bank, Bangladesh had about 44% absolute poverty and India was at 21% at roughly the same year (about 5 year old data).

New data series and methodology will be released soon that puts India at around 12%...lets see what it does to Bangladesh poverty measurement.

Asking you again to answer after reading what India have done to you:

Can you answer me from one curiosity, why do you people support India? Decade after Decade, This is the India who supported the Military Junta of Myanmar along with China. Where Dhaka took the opposition, sheltered many democratic voices of your people and media. The junta oppressed you and they didnt work for the people.
Do you think we made mistake supporting Su Ky's supporter???? Do we deserve this ungrateful manner from yours for waging wars?
Why dont you teach lesson India and China who made you leave your motherland, you had to search for better fate abroad.

India supported Su Kyi way before Bangladesh ever did. Just look up any biography of Su Kyi and see how many times India is mentioned. Her father even had connections with Indian congress party during independence struggle from British.

Of course India became pragmatic and worked with the Junta....does not mean we deserted Su Kyi....in fact by working with both sides there was enough pressure for the reform that has happened now.

Now ask yourself why Su Kyi has taken up the position she has w.r.t Rohingya? Ask why Su Kyi will never say a bad word about Burmese military? She is quite stern and rigid with Muslim people....because she is a politician after all and it helps her image if she supports the Bamar majority strongly.

If you are so naive as to wonder why Burma and India have cordial friendly relations as though Bangladesh figures in some important way between them....then you are being quite silly. Learn to stand on your own two feet and work on serious pragmatic geopolitics yourself.....instead of moaning and whining why why why...like everyone owes Bangladesh an apology and explanation for every single thing you feel you were wronged in. World does not revolve around Bangladesh.

i dont want to tell about India but about BD...
coz they dont motivated Stateless So-called Rohingya to sperate and join to CTG...
Do u know what did ur PM S. Hasina do the first thing about Myanmar after ur PM S.Hasina take office in 2014..?
http://www.dhakatribune.com/op-ed/2014/mar/20/referendum-rakhine-state
Dhaka Tribune is owned by 2A Media Limited, a concern of AL leader Kazi Nabil Ahmed's Gemcon Group and published this during AL regime.. What does it mean..?

it made 99% of Myanmar angry and we took this very seriously..
the result is deploying many division under Western Command with many APC , IFV and
Artillery division near border.. and many MiG29s and Mi35P which is more than BD's were deployed permently since 2014.. many more..
then u can see we tried to cut the economic relationships if u notice the trade was dropped at 2014 untill now ,although we signed many MoU to boost trade..that's not only just Gov's action.. people in Myanmar also boycotted the bangladeshi products since 2014 and till now..

plus other issue like boat people who wanna be Rohingya , border problem and many others...

in here , India never do like this.. and our leader Aung San Su Kyi lived in India , learned in India since she was young till she went to UK.. that's much more than BD's the whole life support.. now clear...? :D

tell me what is notable action of BD concern about Myanmar Democracy...?

Aung Zaya, is it really true that Myanmar people took that article too seriously? Because, Dhaka Tribune just got established in 2013 and it wanted some publicity as a new daily so it published that sensational stuff in 2014 to increase their subscription. In Bangladesh, nobody took that seriously I don't know why you guys got so outraged over this cheap article.

And since you are comparing India's contribution to Myanmar, let me remind you the Operation Leech conducted by Indian military and RAW under which they patronized and sponsored several rebel groups of Myanmar like AA, KIA, KNA etc. Bangladesh never done anything like that.

a small market..!? lol then why ur pherma companies try sell here although there is no demand so far..? even BD's RMG campanies trying to invest here.. if Myanmar is just small market and negelectable , why many countries pouring their money here., dozen of brands from many countries trying to get footage in myanmar everyday. in last two month , we received nearly 102 investment proposal which is worth nearly $4B.. All countries know Myanmar is a big market with 52 m people.. lol

Aung Zaya, is it really true that Myanmar people took that article too seriously?
yes.. coz this article publisher is Dhaka Tribune which is closely related to Gov authority. if other newspaper published this , we dont need to care.. there is no accident in politic.

Hasina has nothing to do about it. Its related to a company owned by an AL MP. He has many companies. Influential people open many media this way. Most of the time they dont have any idea what going on there. If Dhaka Tribune published it, it doesnt mean he said it, or AL, or the Gov. Its the journalist who published his opinion. AL is formed by secular liberal people, they give their own opinion criticise one another, its how they work. It doesnt mean if someone distantly related to it said something is the gov stand. And AL related people has many such print, online, tv media, DT isnt the only one or important, most try to act neutral and do their own business. They are not related to gov, can you understand this?
