Iran is really the rising star of the region, even though they are being sanctioned so severely by the West.
There is a few iranian engineers/researchers presenting at a conference in toronto last july, all the more perservering since it's usually quite difficult and hassling for them to get visa into US or canada.
We should learn from the example of Iran. Being sanctioned by the outside isn't scary, sanctioning your own companies in favor of temporary gain is scary (LIKE DENG). Being sanctioned by the West is not scary! India was sanctioned by the West in nuclear technology, they have an extremely advanced civilian program. They were given everything in the aerospace sector, we all know how that turned out. In contrast, we were sanctioned in aerospace, now look at our planes and rockets. Then look at our shameful nuclear plants! Look at Iran! Give Iran 20 years, if they're still sanctioned their nuclear plants might just become some of the most advanced in the world.
Trust me, when the mullahs go, Iran will become another south Korea within a decade.
3 million barrels of oil will be increased to around 7-9 million within a decade.
Gas exports will start.
foreign investment will come in like crazy. Iran has an extremely educated pop'n compared to other Islamic countries (except Turkey which is the same as Iran) and its people are very liberal and capitalist and foreign companies will see this as an opportunity.
When the econ is growing under 4 rounds of sanctions, just think how much faster it can grow without the sanctions, much needed foreign tech and investment, higher oil and gas sales etc...
Iran will boom if the mullahs go.
Abii @ Iran is progressing dont worry about anything. just keep on going...dont fear anything, self sufficient is the best outcome of being sanctioned.
Abii, Any idea about how many people go for PHDs in Iran?
I don't doubt our abilities, the mullahs though have a different vision for Iran. They don't give a ratz azz about science and prosperity, only Islam. We're no where near our full potential. We should be a top 5 economy right now but...
Do you think all these scientific achievements are due to the mullahs or nationalist individuals within the ruling elite? Not everybody in the Islamic Republic has the same vision as the bearded baboons rulling the country. My hope is to one day work as a politician in Iran, even if this regime is still in power. Yet I don't support the regime and I don't even consider myself Muslim. Many proud Iranians within the establishment gladly grow a beard and act the part so that they can help the country. The people of Iran are ultimately responsible for the good things happening in Iran. If you think about it, the shah and his father created the spine of modern Iran. They were the ones that destroyed feaudalism/tribalism and modernized the country. The infrastructure was more or less built by the shah. The mullahs did absolutely NOTHING until the mid 90s. Even baboons like Nejad don't agree with the mullahs.I think you dont realize that this very progress is done under Mullahs as you call Iran's leadership. but in your disagreement with their ways you label them hatefully as Mullahs... standing up against the powerful world, threaten with Invasion, it is the very Mullah's who saved your country, yet you want to bring Pehali times...its your choice ! us rizk se mout achi, jis risk se ati ho parwaz mien kotahi. Iqbal.
people give example of Irans leadership despite being sunni in their core. would you like to wonder why?
