"Saudia Arabia says days of unconditional foreign aid are now over"

Refusing the KSA request to support them militarily when they were under Houthi attack was a Himalayan blunder on part of Pak.

2 way street. They are still very dependent on Pakistan for security assurances those can also be revoked and placed behind iran. And lets be a little clear, the aid was never unconditional. Also they attacked Yemen, it wasnt the other way around. Houthis retaliation was to be expected. And Pakistan's assessment of the situation proved 100 % correct. The Saudis couldn't win that war. But like a bull in the China shop...

And then KSA can kick out all the Pakistani labour working there. This will dramatically reduce our remittances, resulting in making our economic crisis even worse.

Yes from economic point of view, Pakistan being rentier state captured by elite/military business. Joining Yemen war would have assured good supply of $ without need to do any reform that will hurt elite interests.

Also its not just Saudis. This time around not even IMF is willing to trust Dollar Dar like in 2013-2017. Pakistan tried to use floods to get $$ but no success there either. Cheap flood loans and grants depend on IMF deal.

Probably be a good thing. With 1 person being kicked out, the 10 lazy bums sat around leaching off him in Pakistan would probably have to get a job or starve. When hungry they might finally turn on the state which is opressing them.

So you want to ruin the lives of our hardworking Pakistanis doing everything they can to make money for their family? Do you have any idea what sacrifices so many families had to make in order to send their sons to KSA for work?

You want to murder innocent Yemeni babies for Dollars... Because that's what the Saudi debacle in Yemen is actually doing.

Exactly... All those in Pakistan leaching off of the few hard working Pakistani overseas need to starve. My 80 year old retired parents send money from here in the West to my 30 something cousins in Pakistan because they just can't make enough in Pakistan.... Why???

Well done Saudis....break the Pakistani begging bowel... Pakistani are all Beggars can't be Choosers losers.

Absolutely not! Actually with a professional Pak Army led by competent commanders, the Alliance would have finished the war in a jiffy, and spared ordinary Yemenis a lot of hardship.

Lol... Are you talking about the corrupt Bajwa army. Pakistani Army of today isn't what it was....

Killing Yemeni Babies for dollars isn't going to bring you Blessings from Above.

I don't remember Saudi Arabia ever giving us Aid. That was happening back in the 1980s with encouragement from the USA.

What they offer is "soft loan", "oil on deferred payments", "transfer funds in the bank to boost reservers" etc.

@Clutch mian

Here you have a point. I was actually thinking about Gen Raheel Sharif's fauj. He was da Man. Looked like a proper general (and I say this inspite of coming from an "enemy" country)

Who can blame KSA, less so looking at their current position of strength (fastest growing economy in the world, very big non-oil growth, percentage of women in the workforce booming and never being bigger, unprecedented social, religious, economic, political etc. reforms.

2 way street. They are still very dependent on Pakistan for security assurances those can also be revoked and placed behind iran. And lets be a little clear, the aid was never unconditional. But like a bull in the China shop...

I am curious, in which world is that the case? In fact when was it ever the case?

The Pakistani military contribution to KSA nowadays has become almost completely redundant and is reduced to a tiny number (in the grand scheme of things) of advisers (almost all of them retired), military training and exercises (that KSA is routinely undergoing with Western, Arab, Muslim and even nowadays Chinese etc. counterparts) etc.

The only thing that we really provide of theoretical importance is our supposed nuclear cower of KSA (Makkah and Madinah in particular) but to start with the only existential threats (in theory) to KSA as far as nation states go, are nuclear powers and are we really going to retaliate or come to the aid of KSA if say the US, Russia, China, UK, France, India or North Korea attacked/nuked KSA? Nobody believes that really, not KSA nor Pakistan.

As far as Yemen goes, from what I understand and can see, if not for KSA/Arab intervention in Yemen (the Afghanistan of Western Asia), the Houthis would be controlling all of Yemen and not the small, mostly inland mountainous part, that they currently control. I don’t think that our participation would have changed anything in this regard, you would need a 500.000 strong army to fully control/permanently defeat the Houthi part of Yemen and it is simply not worth it in the grand scheme of things. In any case it looks like there have been a ceasefire for the past 1 year or so.

We don’t really have much leverage and as far as the Iran angle goes, there has been talk of KSA-Iran rapprochement and quite frankly KSA is not interested in any wars and neither is Iran amidst an economic collapse, widespread protests and discontent etc.

Fighting against the Houthis (extremist terrorist group) and as a consequence the occurrence of collateral damage (as in any wars or armed conflicts) = killing Yemeni babies, when the same Houthis are the main reason for the struggles and suffering of Yemen. Ok. I guess we are guilty of killing Pakistani babies when engaging with TTP, BLA and other terrorists.

Come on, one can be against foreign interventions (I agreed with the decision to remain out of it) but no need for such nonsense.
