Both are in the pipeline..But for Submarines the French Scorpene might compete with the new South Korean KSS-III (JangbogoIII-class) a 3000 tons very expensive sub $900 million+, but have the capability to vertically launch ballistic or cruise missiles.

Yes this a good development especially if the Grom missile could be integrated on the submarine. It would allow subs in the Persian gulf to retaliate conventionally or with NBC(?) weapons against Iran.

I think grom is big for that subs and in Arabian gulf big submarines are not useful because waters are not deep for them

The red sea is good enough for submarines..Depth starts at 500 m..
For having a deterrent tool for Saudi or region security kingdom must have submarines in Indian Ocean with cruise missile launching capability
Warhead of that can be chemical biological or my wish nuclear warhead:devil:

The Korean KSS-III would be perfect for that.. Just 4 of them and 6-8 Scorpene would be enough for potent deterrence and defensive/offensive capabilities.. Add a few capable midget submarines for shore defences and special operations..
