The morning after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman promised to deliver "whatever we can do" for Pakistanis living in the kingdom, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry announced that MBS had ordered the immediate release of over 2,000 Pakistani prisoners in Saudi jails.

Prime Minister Imran Khan at a ceremony held to welcome the crown prince at PM House on Sunday night had made a "special request" to MBS to look into the hardships of Pakistani labourers working in the kingdom, and to "look upon them as your own people".

"There are some 3,000 [Pakistani] prisoners there and we just would like you to bear in mind that they are poor people who have left their families behind," Khan had said.

MBS had responded by assuring the premier to consider him Pakistan's ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Prince Mohammad had continued: "We cannot say no to Pakistan ... whatever we can do, we will deliver that."

Prime Minister Khan in a tweet today said that the crown prince had "won the hearts of the people of Pakistan when he said, 'Consider me Pakistan's ambassador to Saudi Arabia' in response to my asking him to treat the 2.5 million Pakistanis working in KSA as his own."

Fawad Chaudhry in a tweet today said: "As a sequel to Prime Minister of Pakistan's request, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of KSA Mohammad Bin Salman has ordered the immediate release of 2,107 Pakistani prisoners from Saudi Jails."

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also noted that the crown prince had "graciously agreed" to free the Pakistani prisoners "with immediate effect".

"Cases of the remaining will be reviewed," he announced.

The foreign minister said the people of Pakistan thanked the crown prince for "responding immediately" to the premier's request.

This was Prince Mohammad's first state visit since becoming crown prince. Saudi Arabia has signed agreements worth $21 billion with Pakistan in various fields, including cooperation in power production, establishment of an oil refinery and petrochemical plant, promotion of sports and technical assistance in the standardisation sector.

The oversea Pakistanis especially in the middle East suffer so much just so they can provide for thier families back home whilst being separated from them working alone no one to express thier dukhs and sukhs with and being not paid enough forced overtime when asking for their rights they are thrown into prison. May Allah bless Pakistan with wealth and happiness so no son/father should leave his beloved nation in order to provide meals for thier families

Dubai: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman has ordered the immediate release of 2,107 Pakistani prisoners from jails in Saudi Arabia.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said on Monday that Crown Prince Salman has ordered the release of prisoners following a request from Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said that cases of other Pakistani prisoners would also be reviewed.

The minister tweeted: “As a sequel to Prime Minister of Pakistan [Imran Khan’s] request, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammad Bin Salman has ordered the immediate release of 2,107 Pakistani prisoners from Saudi jails.”



The Crown Prince arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit on Sunday.

Earlier, on Sunday evening, speaking at the banquet hosted in honour of Crown Prince Salman, Imran referred to the problems of Pakistani Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia and requested that their immigration should be done in the three big cities of Pakistan.


He also mentioned the problems faced by Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia, whom he considered very close to his heart and ‘special people’.

The prime minister on Monday praised Salman on his assurance in this regard.



“Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman won the hearts of the people of Pakistan when he said 'consider me Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia' in response to my asking him to treat the 2.5 mn Pakistani’s working in KSA as his own,” Imran tweeted.

“Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has graciously agreed to free 2,107 Pakistani prisoners in Saudi Arabia with immediate effect. Cases of the remaining will be reviewed. People of Pakistan thank HRH for responding immediately to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s request,” says Pakistan Prime Minister’s official twitter handle.


Imran had requested the Crown Prince to take measures for the early release of 3,000 Pakistani prisoners jailed in Saudi Arabia.


In response, Crown Prince Salman assured the Prime Minister that Saudi Arabia would do whatever it could to address those issues.

‘Consider me Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia,’ he told the prime minister.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also said today that 2,107 prisoners will be freed from KSA with immediate effect while cases of the remaining will be reviewed.
