Some people here might say they are here to spread their hate and evil in Pakistan. I hope those are a rarity in Pakistan.

Hi,

Soldiers don't spread hate---rather they create a bond of friendship and fraternity. This training is of utmost importance to both the sides---. The bonds created here would go a long ways.

I hope the trainers are ruthless and put the saudi troops through their paces without any prejudice and discrimination and justify their jobs---for if they hold back---they are not being fair to the troops.

And also I want to say---the saudis of today are a different group of people than they were 10---15 years ago---. I think they are a lot more conscious of their own position in the middle east, what they have to do to sustain that position economically and millitarily. The first gulf war was a needle prick---the afghan invasion, second gw and al qaeda insurgency came as a stab---.

But was it the skirmish in the mountain border area with yemen that has really made the saudis conscious of their vulnerabilities---. I would like your input----I want to know at what stage did the saudis decided--'screw the wealth'---we have to step up to the plate to do our own biddings---and I am asking this from you without any prejudice---has the wakeup hour arrived in saudi arabia---because I don't see a wakeup hour in pakistan----just some waves here and there.

i think they are visiting Pakistan to reduce tension between Pak & USA

Hi,

I think they are taking the pressure away from the troops---pak troops are under a lots of stress---a little diversion---a little camaraderie---general from a friendly country visiting---pakistani troops training saudis---makes them feel they are worth something and still doing something.

This barrage that the pak millitary has taken has been terrible to the millitary's psyche---.

Mastan you have now knowingly hinted at the answer to your question.

What changed was about 15-17 years ago, when Malik Abdullah came in.
He's the best thing that Saudi Arabia could hope for, and he has done more good than the last 3 Kings put together.
His only problem is the weak links caused by mistakes made by others, he is carefully negotiating those and moving forward on Turbo !
