Saudi Arabia Invites China’s Xi to Visit Kingdom Amid Strained U.S. Relations

Trip could happen as soon as May, as alliances shift in the Middle East and Washington’s regional partners seek out new security and economic ties

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia—Saudi Arabia has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Riyadh as the kingdom looks to deepen ties with Beijing amid strained relations with Washington, people familiar with the plan said.

The trip is expected to happen after Islam’s holy month of Ramadan, which begins in early April this year, the people said, in what could be Mr. Xi’s first foreign travel since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Riyadh is planning to replicate the warm reception it gave to former President Donald Trump in 2017 when he visited the kingdom on his first trip abroad, one of the people said.

The way things are moving, maybe in 10 years people will write how some people in Washington messed everything up. Alliances/good relations in Africa and Asia would have far reaching consequences for West.

MBS snubs Biden's call and invites Xi for a visit. :o: My George Washington's are panicking (they were Benjamins before the market slump   ).

On the contrary, the US no longer needs the Middle East. The US's focus has shifted to Asia-Pacific.

What all this means is that the Arabs, especially Saudi Arabia will have to fight their own wars themselves... or invite Russia and China to bomb their fellow Arab nations. Pakistan already refused to bomb them back in 2015.

Soon US's focus will be shifting to themselves and retreating from everywhere around the globe, it's fast declining power can no longer match their global ambitions.

I think you are under estimating America's sharp eagle eye focus on China only.

As a Chinese, I'm sure you would wish America was involved in the Middle East and elsewhere instead of shifting it's military might towards China.

We don't really care, they dare not to attack China, so wherever they put their military assets doesn't really matter, the more they waste their money on them the better is for China.

How is it wasting?

They've been the largest economy on Earth since the 1880s.
