Saudi Arabia Invites China’s Xi to Visit Kingdom Amid Strained U.S. Relations

Wasting means soon they'll lose this title for good.
How? They haven't stopped generating wealth.

In the past, they purchased natural resources from the Middle East rather than tap into their own at home. Then Obama came and he changed this policy. Since then, the US's need for Middle Eastern resources is no longer important.

If the Americans are still reluctantly retaining their influence in the Middle East, it's mainly to support Europe, Japan, South Korea and other allies who don't have huge natural resources at home like the US has.

. .
Doesn't mean they won't lose the top spot, it will be sooner than expected based on the most recent reports.
I read somewbere that Chairman Mao Zedong predicted that China's GDP would be larger than the US between 2005-2015 but in 2021 it was still a good 30% smaller.

Also, although the US became the largest economy by 1880s, it wasn't seen as a super power until more than half a century later.

Now when the US was growing the way it was growing, nobody was trying to contain it or stop it. That's not the case with China. So anything could happen.

Reaally, where did you read it? this is so ridiculous. During the Great Leap Forward some fanatics indeed shouted the slogan of overtaking UK and US in 3 years, but if you use those crazy nonesense revolutionary slogans to disqualify today's peer reviewed global economists researches and studies, you will be as crazy as those revolutionary fanatics.

in 2021 it was still a good 30% smaller.
In PPP term China had long passed US, the only reason now US still leads in nominal GDP is they keep printing money, but this approach won't last US long, it hollows out US from within.

Now when the US was growing the way it was growing, nobody was trying to contain it or stop it. That's not the case with China. So anything could happen.
And China grows much faster, no country can really stop another country from growing, a power's demise very often is due to their own causes.

Now the USA is like the Han Dynasty of 延熹年. We are not in a hurry, because 延熹年 is 150 years away from 永嘉年.
But it is only 27 years since 光和七年.

Saudi Arabia preparing 'Trump-style reception' for China's President Xi amid US-Saudi relations rupture

The New Arab Staff
15 March, 2022
Chinese President Xi Jingping will travel to Saudi Arabia, after Ramadan, to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has been invited to Saudi Arabia, in a sign of ever-growing ties between the two countries and a further dampening of Riyadh's relations with the US, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Sources who spoke to WSJ said that the trip, which will include talks with Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), is believed to be planned for after the month of Ramadan, which is scheduled to begin in early April.

"The crown prince and Xi are close friends and both understand that there is huge potential for stronger ties," a Saudi official told The Wall Street Journal.

"It is not just 'they buy oil from us and we buy weapons from them'," they added.

The Chinese premier's visit will be his first overseas trip since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It also comes amid a thawing of relations between Saudi Arabia and the US, as China increases its foothold in the Gulf region.

Riyadh intends to give the Chinese president the same sort of grand reception granted to former President Donald Trump in 2017, seen as a pivotal moment in US-Saudi relations.

While Trump and MbS shared a strong friendship despite criticism of Saudi's human rights record, the war in Yemen and the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the Biden administration has remained reticent about continuing these close ties.

During his campaign for the White House, Biden reportedly called Saudi Arabia a "pariah" state.

Recently in Riyadh, MbS reportedly refused a call with the US president, who was hoping to persuade the oil-rich nation to increase production.

Saudi Arabia has rejected requests to increase oil production, as prices rocketed over Russia's war on Ukraine, which China has refrained from strongly condemning.

The planned trip by President Xi will be his first trip to the Gulf kingdom since 2016, and the first time the two leaders will meet in person since a 2019 trip that MbS took to Beijing to sign energy and trade deals.

Press ABC news: There is a diverse American delegation of Government Agencies (National Security, Defense, Intelligence) to visit the Kingdom in the coming days, especially due to the large number of leaks of the Saudi-Chinese rapprochement..
