It matches all stanfards to replace the F-5s of which the majority of the inventory was set on retirement. So yes, I prefer the J-17s over all modest fighter jets.

Another factor to be taken in consideration is that Pakistan is our greatest ally, we ran several projects and deals before on militarily scale, and I believe we should go for this as well.

I'm all for stronger Saudi-Pakistani relations. I think it's the most important bilateral relationship in the Muslim World and both can benefit from each other immensely. If Saudis can pump cash into it, get some co-production or technology transfer, that would be terrific.

Yes dear, JF-17 is sufficient enough to fit in any role.
It may be replaceing F-5 but it is much more worthy plane, it just dosn't carry european tag but it is a 4.5 generation level plane, with comprehensive wepons package and service facilities.
Most of above, it comes with no restrictions of use and bugs.

Dollar for Dollar, JF-17 is of great Value because it is a multi role aircraft that delivers a heavy punch for a modest investment. Just because KSA is rich does not mean it has money to burn. KSA today is a value conscious Buyer. Why use expensive American and European Jets worth 100's of millions of dollar to do a job that can be done by a 25 Million dollar JF-17 in terms of Ground or Sea Support. Of course you want some Air Superiority Assets in your Inventory as well to deny airspace to you Enemy and that is where RSAF Typhoons and F-15 Eagles would come in handy.

Due to low population of Saudi Arabia, it's pool of potential pilots is limited. On top of it they have fiscal surplus.

This means that when Saudi's are buying JF-17 over a Eurofighter, they are diverting a dearer resources for a substandard product.A pilot assigned to a JF-17 is a pilot not assigned for a Eurofighter.

JF-17, which at best a marginally competent 4th gen plane would lead to underutilization of human resources of Saudi Arabia, a resource in which they are extremely poor.

If SA buy's JF-17, it would be practically doing charity.

Pilots are not some run of the mill grunts. You require above average iq, perfect health and quick reflexes. Also you need to be in 17-25 year age group.

So how many eligible pilots could Saudi have from it's 20 million population and how many of them would want to become pilots?

We reached 30 million and we have around 600 jets if not more operated already with more come.

We are not buying the JF over the typhoon but along with it. We do need a low cost light-weight multirole jet for small missions instead of calling the f-15, tornado and the EF which are a little heavy and costly.
