Saudi Arabia Announces New Economic Corridor ......

CPEC continues FYI. It would be sensible to talk about its projects, terms and conditions, and impact.

Here is an excerpt from an newspaper article published today:

"Islamabad wanted to either shelve the 300MW project or change its location to Thar to use the local coal. But China did not agree to Pakistan’s text about the Gwadar plant, which had mentioned that “both sides recognised that there was a need to examine the requirement, size, location and fuel type for 300MW Gwadar Power Plant in view of escalating international coal prices, which were resulting in exceptionally high prices of electricity, liquidity and foreign exchange issues for Pakistan and environmental concerns”.

Do we Pakistanis have a spine or not? This same Saudi Arabia spend billions to promote their sect in Pakistan, brainwashed young children and made them extremists, the same saudia whom Pakistan and Pakistanis have been bowing down to for decades, same saudia which wouldn't allow Pakistan to improve their relations with Iran and other states. Pakistanis kept on closing their eyes and ears and continued to worship.

The same Saudia now spending billions to promote their relations with India, trying to rival Cpec. Where are those Pakistanis who have been saying for 20 years on PDF that Saudia hamara bhai hei.

I am not blaming saudia but Pakistanis. Hum ek chamcha mulk hei, otherwise would you dare to show saudia their true face. Saudi lovers will certainly make it out that Pakistan will benefit mostly lol

Some day in the future you can replace Saudi Arabia with China

Errr no
Pakistan HAD NEVER nailed down specific industries to relocate into Pakistan.
And why didn't they, you ask ?
Because the Chinese WOULD NEVER agree to move profitable ventures out of China and offer up that employment to another country.
The Chinese convinced the abjectly stupid and naive that the process would be automatic. Build and they will come they said.
A convenient lie
Its dawning on more and more BRI backers that this is a lie
The industrial parks set up under BRI were/are not exclusive Chinese domains. It was up to GOP to attract investments from all sundry, not just the Chinese based on various incentives under their control.

So China is not accepting Pakistani proposals? This is not how it is supposed to be.

Never put all of your eggs in one basket. Bidding and competition helps.

Pakistan should find out why Chinese objected to those parts mentioned in the article. If it's because of western-Pakistan suspicions it shouldn't have done anything with west to create mistrust. However if China are not listening just to mess with Pakistan then it should cease cooperating immediately and not sign.

This has nothing to do with other countries but China not understanding Pakistani problems. WE have to pay these IPPs irrespective of demand or not - what kind of deal is this?

Hey fool, China is not responsible for running everything in those BRI countries to make sure they become rich and developed, those countries are not Chinese domains. China only build certain infra and plants those countries want. It's up to those countries to attract investments from the world after they have basic infra in place.

Maybe it's something to do with helping USA in the 2000-15 period and something like the below tweet (the Anti-French Niger chief of defense ", also attended the National Defense University and trained at Fort Benning (now Fort Moore), Georgia."

Such a thing might create concern.

Also,

"By siding with the West against the Soviets and again after 9/11," Kakar said.

And,
"
UK investors show keen interest in Pakistan
Interim PM Kakar apprises them of FDI potential in key sectors

Using US as the pretext to explain Pakistan - Chinese friction on some projects is akin to shooting oneself in the foot. The sheer scale of American investment in China - did WE question Chinese on the lines of why so many American companies opened manufacturing plants in China? Why so many American companies developed Chinese infrastructure? Why US had been China's largest trading partner? The answer is NO. This is not our place to decide.

PAK - US bilateral relationship is a different matter than PAK - China bilateral relationship. Pakistan cannot be a client state of either side but find a way to work with both.

Pakistani think on short term basis. CPEC was lacking in planning in terms of how to develop sustainable livelihood for the masses, particularly in Balochistan and KPK where people are lacking in opportunities and can be brainwashed by terrorists to do their bidding.

CPEC Phase 1 was mainly focused on costly infrastructure development and now Pakistan is learning the hardway that IPPs was a bad idea.

Common sense tells that Pakistan should accept projects that can be beneficial to the masses and reject projects become a burden on the masses. But Pakistan does not have options due to lack of international bidders.

Do you have any idea how much money Americans have? Some of the American companies have more investment power than the entirety of Pakistan put together.

But carry on - anti-US posture is of great help to Pakistan. Become a client state instead.

Minutes of 11th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of the CPEC was released back in July 31, 2023. However when the bilaterally signed agreement was released earlier in September 2023 almost all of the agreed points in the July minutes were rejected by Chinese side. Following is brief summary of the developments which were agreed by Chinese in July JCC meeting but rejected in the meeting held in September.

1. China excluded cooperation in the areas of cross-border tourism in G-B, K-P and AJK and cooperation for promotion of coastal tourism from the final minutes of the 11th JCC

2. China also did not agree to Pakistan’s proposal for inclusion of Water Resources Management and Climate Change and Urban Infrastructure Development in the CPEC framework.

3. Islamababd wanted to change location of 300 MW Gwader power plant to Thar to use the local coal. But China did not agree to Pakistan’s text about the Gwadar plant,

4. The text related to the financial closing of 701 megawatts (MW) Azad Pattan hydropower project, 1,124MW Kohala power plant, and 1,320MW Thar Block 1 Shanghai Electric Co power plant was dropped from the final minutes. So These plants would not be operational as per original plan.

5. China also did not agree to a proposal to the inclusion of a 500kv transmission line from Hub to Gwadar to link the seaport city with the national grid in the CPEC framework.

6. China did not agree to “carry out joint studies for future development of Thar coal blocks, including development of mega power parks and power evacuation infrastructure, with a view to meet Pakistan’s energy needs from indigenous resources, conversion of coal into other products for domestic demand as well as exports.

7. China excluded the issue of financial challenges being faced by the power companies from the final minutes.

8. China also did not agree to the proposal for inclusion of 100MW KIU and 80MW Phander hydel power projects in the CPEC energy cooperation list and implementation through Chinese investors. China did not agree to the proposal of developing a policy framework for coal gasification to fertiliser projects based on Thar coal.

9. Similarly, there is no mention of the South-North gas pipeline project in the final minutes. The draft minutes had mentioned examination of feasibility study and Chinese cooperation for the purpose.

10. Pakistan had proposed Chinese participation in a strategic underground gas storage project but there is no mention of this mega project in the final minutes.

It's anti-Anglosaxon or anti-NATO. USA and China can pin the Middle East to make it progressive again. I think this is potentially one of their plans if there is more cooperation between USA-China and suits the secular progressives in China/globalists. Both sides may want dependency of Pakistan. Just remember USA helped Iraq, then destroyed it. Helped China, now threatens it. Would Russia have built such a plant in Thar?

Solution is to have Good Governance and options - there are so many countries out there that can help develop Pakistan.

Saudi have options - this is how they are able to tame both US and China. LMAO.

I am conducting research on the topic of governance - findings will be interesting.

From this distance I get the impression that China has decided it has spent enough money on Pakistan as part of the BRI, does not wish to assume more risk and does not want to expand its involvement nor change the scope.

They also had their hands on the worlds oil spigot, that certainly gives you the power to influence terms.
