What's new

Saudi Arabia announces formation of Islamic military coalition of 34 States.

It is not the question of if JF-17 is a good fighter or not. It is to do with the geo political situation. This entire coalition is against Russia & China. Why would they sell something to their opposition?

All those people who support this coalition can leave India and never comeback.
Look since when are Saudi Arabia /muslim countries anti China geo politically speaking? If you said Russia then I might agree to some extent, giving Russia's historical role of interventions in te region and most recently in Syria against most Gulf/muslim countries interests.
By contrast China has never been involved in any geo political power games in the region, unlike U.S,U.K,France and Russia. So China has no issues with such a coalition , Russia does. The Chinese are pragmatic and they don't care one bit about such power games. They will do business with anyone be it a U.S/U.K backed regime or a Russian one.
So you would never mix China and Russia together in such things. :)

Hope sense prevail in arab world dont fight for US ans NATO agenda of taking out ASAD doing that means next time you will be on list

PAKISTAN learned lesson and keeping it hand of from fire which is prepared from usa in shape of ISIS

im not against coalation of islam i. Against working agenda hope they target to ISIS and fight shoulder to shoulder with syrian brothers not against them

This is what israel wants and our arab brothers bringing them on plate

So, what is your solution to Syrian problem...?

Just like some folks who opposes USA intervention in Syria before, so we see now without intervention the situation becomes much worse.

At least, Saudi has taken a good decision in Yaman now, and it has been proven in the field, but the next step is to put peace process above all things, and start talking heart to heart as we are all Muslims.

Okay

So whom are these valiant 34 going to fight ?

Going by how things are they would have to control themselves for most of the terrorism originates or is encouraged from / by some of these 34.

You may be correct. China may back off and not support Russia in future but at least for now it seems to be supporting Russia.

We should remember that JF-17 currently flies with a Russian Engine. China would have the full veto only after they are able to replace Russian engine with a Chinese one sometime in future.

China Vows 'Enhanced Cooperation' with Russia Against Terror

I really doubt the effectiveness of this since Iran is not in the list it looks more like a military coalition that Saudi Arabia wants against Iran, I didn't read names like Iran, Syria, Iraq. If that's the case I wish Pakistan does not participate in it actively since Arabs and Turks are going nuts these days.

On the brighter side if the coalition turns out to be something like EU then its a great deal but there are enough traitors that would ensure the thing ends up just like OIC and Arab League.

*Egypt ground forces training is as good as our.
*Egypt airforce is better than Pakistan and in near future will be better in all aspects
*Egyptian navy is slightly weaker compared to Pakistan navy
Bro have you ever witnessed Egyptian army discipline ?

Couple of years back .. Egyptian troops were serving in Ivory Coast under UN mandate - the force along other troops (from various nations) were also commanded by a Pak officer.

Back than -- all I saw them do was smoke Shisha... No duty -- going out without permission - roaming around in cities-- eating and chase hookers... I remember one day a hooker was going bezerk Coz the Egyptian troops didn't pay her -- she was threatening to go to the commander .. Helluva scene..

I'm not here to insult Egyptians .. But please.. To compare Egyptian army to ours is an insult...

Top that with no combat experience ..

As for airforce -- it's only recently that they have opted for new jets with BVR -- which they have no experience with.. Apart from sparrows.. And probably no AWACS or Dedicatwd EW planes..

Etc etc ..

I can support our involvement if its objectives include the following

  • Shared command & control structure
  • Pakistan should be able to request forces from the coalition if needed (We never will but its needed for public)
  • Mandate should be to fight 'terrorism'
  • It must not be used to suppress 'anti govt forces' and 'reformist' movements as long as they don't threaten the state itself, that includes Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
  • Is not used to wage war against fellow Muslim states

1. In the original concept OIC was to have a military wing. Back then Pakistan had even posted officers for this. Then this idea fizzled out.

2. This new initiative appears US promoted using Saudi's fear/hatred for Iranians/Shiahs. Such projects born outside of the parties involved, generally fizzle out.

Pakistan has been proposing a military block since ages .. Be it the OIC summit from the sixties or 21st century:

2012

Pakistan proposes to create a military block of Islamic states

Let's just say that even an alliance of this size itself is a big deal for a directionless Muslim world. Pakistan can play a big role here with our exceptional experience in CT and COIN operations.

Other than the first two points, the remaining three are almost impossible as the root cause of all evil is the difference in ideology. It's like asking a leopard to dump it's spots.

* War will precisely be fought against other *Muslim* states with different school of thought.
* There will be no consensus on the definition of *terrorism*, not now, not ever.
* The force will be only used to prop or to destabilize puppet governments. Here you will have another problem as well, as in such case it will not only be ideological differences, but geopolitical aims as well.

All in all, it's a shit-fest that no we should never EVER join, as it will take us down the rabbit hole.

We have something EXTRAORDINARILY GREAT going for us. Keep working on CPEC and it's enhancements.... in EVERYTHING ELSE, we should be like Switzerland and Canada.

Remember, politics is bad for business. CPEC is our lifeline, not Ummah. It's time we lived our dreams, not that of others!

Different dynamics now. We don't need to make more friends, we have loads of things going for us so it's no longer a win-win for us, rather win-win for others, that we don't need.

1. ICBM's nearing finality
2. Assorted nuclear warheads on the way.
3. CPEC nearing completion.
4. All other economic indicators stabilizing.

And only friend we can afford right now is China. That's it. Nothing else needed. With rest of the world we can have economic relations. Nothing more.
