Saudi Arabia has overtaken the US as the largest donor to Pakistan's flood relief effort, following criticism that Muslim countries were not giving enough for victims of the disaster.

The oil-rich country is to give $105m (£67m) in aid, according to Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority, though just $5m of this is in cash, with the rest in the form of relief goods. The Saudi public has separately raised $19m.

Until now, the US had been the leading contributor towards relief efforts(those bloody infidels), . Muslim countries, meanwhile, had been slow to give and may have been stung into donating by criticism in the Pakistani media.

Saudi Arabia has strong links with Pakistan, with many Saudi charities promoting its brand of conservative Islam in the country for decades, including the funding of religious seminaries often accused of promoting Islamist extremism.


The US is giving $76m in cash but says its contribution is worth $87m, including aid-in-kind. In addition, the US has 19 helicopters operating in northern Pakistan, ferrying supplies and people.

2: Saudi Arabia will be burning more fuel than selling because there is a huge spike in Oil Usage per person in KSA because it is burned for electricity and also sea water sweetening etc.

Saudi don't need to spend that much for weapons, they have had them for some time now.

Reality:

Saudis need Power, more power than any one else and at a rate like no one else. here's an example.
Saudi Arabia's per capita water usage is amongst the highest in the world. Saudi Arabia comes 3rd in the world when it comes to water usage

All the water Saudi Arabia consumes is either recovered form sea water via de-salination plants or scarce underground sources.

At present Saudi Arabia has the world's largest water recovery system installed and as you geniuses might have guessed they need huge amounts of POWER ( electricity) to run those.

This fact combined with the other fact that Saudi Arabia has NO source of fresh water what so ever places Saudi Arabia in a very dangerous zone.

The desert geography and extreme temperatures do not make water transportation easy.

Saudi Government is doing the right thing, Oil is scheduled to get scarce around 2025, and they should have the plants before that to make sure no one is thirsty.

REALITY 2

Saudi Arabia is one the hottest places on earth...
Damn it they need electricity and a lot of it to keep the air conditioners working.
Nuclear energy won't come before 10 years, so they are planning ahead like they should.

REALITY 3

Saudi Economy is at present consumer driven, every thing has to be imported due to lack of infrastructure. To build the infrastructure they need cheap electricity.
Remember Saudis will have to import food, and the only exports they will ever make AFTER oil is gone is of finished products.
A manufacturing based economy never runs unless you have cheap and abundant power available.


Now, compare the above realities with what Pakistan leaders have done ! which is ZERO !
in spite of the head start, we neglected water crises and our rivers are under threat.
We neglected power crises and our industry is dead
We neglected water storage and we have floods !

If you just bury them deep in the desert, radiation could reach underground river systems (there are even in the desert), which could reach drinking waters. Or lets say radiation reaches oil reserves, anyone here wants radioactive oil?
