Saudi and Arabs' Dress Cultures

Those same Arabs betrayed the Ottoman Muslim empire.

They are the ones today that would rather kiss a jew than shake hands with a shia muslim.

True. It was betrayal and the world-renowned Arab greed that destroyed the Ottoman Empire.

A true world-power; sold for measly cannons and desert lands.

.
Thats their tradition and culture, and its good for desert environment...

. . . .
What a utter moronic, ignorant and comical thread. I will return in a few minutes with a long post to put some absurd, false and idiotic claims in the dustbin of history once and for all - at least in this thread. Until then keep posting Blackeagle.;)

Now I want every non-Arab to read this although I doubt that many will.

First of all there is no Saudi dress. It depends on the region, it's geography and traditions. Lastly KSA alone is a very diverse country in terms of geography, traditions, culture, dialects, cuisine and hence also, surprise, surprise, traditional clothing.

It's like claiming that all Pakistanis are identical or that Punjab/Sindh is identical to the tribal areas of Pakistan.
I thought that people had become wiser in this day and age of the internet.

Also nice to post pictures of Afro-Saudis who barely make up 10% of the population and post them as the regular Saudi. Or some Bedouins and their clothing.

Arabs cowards?:omghaha: Interiority complexes? LOL. I don't know a more proud people than us Arabs and trust me I have dealt with many kind of people from across the world. Hence why our culture is so deeply rooted and strong and not prone to changes even in year 2013!

The same people who conquered the known world and smashed all the empires in their way? Who conquered areas as far west as Senegal and Indonesia in the East? Not only military but also culturally, religiously and sometimes even by simple trade.

The only non-Arab Caliphate in history was the Ottoman one who copied everything from all the previous Arab Caliphates and they only conquering tiny Balkan and made them Muslims. The Arabs, after being in control of all Caliphates and ruling as Caliphs for nearly 1000 years had already converted 99% of the current Muslim world.

The Ottomans themselves relied heavily on their Arab Muslim vassals, rulers and the Arab class in Turkey. Especially the Sadah (plural of Sayyid in Arabic) had a huge religious and social importance.

We already had that stupid discussion about the Arabs "destroying" the Ottoman empire, LOL. We Arabs ruled the Caliphate for nearly 1000 years before anyone had heard about the Ottomans. They came and took the throne from us but we did not ***** about that nor do we do that today like others seem to do. The reality is that the Ottoman Empire destroyed itself through its nationalistic and at the end un-Islamic policy. Besides that then people should read up on the Young Turks movement or better ***** about the Turks stealing the Caliphate from us Arabs after we had ruled it for nearly 1000 years! But somehow I don't see that rhetoric here.

The Islamic Golden Age took place under the Arab Abbasid Empire in Arab lands and this is the period of Islamic history, apart from the very early one (Rashidun) that left nearly all marks on Islamic history and civilization.

The Ottomans on the other hand left very little. The Ottomans banned books and did not want knowledge to spread contrary to the Abbasid Caliphate during the Islamic Golden Age and Harun Al-Rashid who was the biggest patron of the art in the Middle Ages and who founded the biggest library in the ancient/old world known as the Bayt al-Hikma before the barbarian Mongols destroyed it and all of Baghdad and killing half of the population in the process!

Let alone the Arab Al-Andalus and its Caliphs who conquered European land and held it for 800 years to such an extent that Spanish now has 20% of it vocabulary from Arabic and its most famous tourist attractions are Arab cultural remains (Alhambra, Cordoba Mosque, Alcazar in Sevilla and Zaragoza etc.)

Oh, I would say that Arabs are doing very well today considering all the circumstances, foreign meddling and the huge and diverse area that is the Arab world. Or the wars and suffering.

We are talking about 400 million people and a diaspora of nearly 50 million. Let alone all those people who are partially Arabs (in the millions too).

Oh, and the GCC is doing better than all Muslim countries whether people agree with the rulers or not.

Anyway I am a Hejazi and Hashemite from Makkah and half Yemeni. Our traditional dresses differ greatly and are very diverse. From the ones you see in neighboring Najd or just the Levant north of Hejaz or Egypt/Sudan across the beautiful Red Sea.

Oh, we Arabs are not perfect or better than anyone else despite being the Children of Prophet Muhammad (saws) and all the Prophets before him such as Prophet Ibrahim (as), the Sahabah, Ahl al-Bayt, Caliphs or all the ancient Arab tribes but nor are we as bad as some trolls like to make us here. Tired of the ignorant Arab bashing to be honest.

Lastly we do not hate Shia's. Do you see Shias being killed on the Arabian Peninsula for just being Shias? No. We have a problem with the fake Iranian Wannabe-Arab Mullah's and their stooges who are our enemies and always have been, will be and are as their acts have demonstrated time and time again. I don't expect non-Arabs to understand this since they have not felt it from first hand.

Anyway back to the actual topic after my little rant.

Just a tiny percentage of the traditional Arab clothing that is worn in parts of the beautiful Arabian Peninsula.

Here you can see some Hejazi (Makkawi) clothing. I am sure that none of you have seen it before! Please watch the whole video if possible.

‫

This is a typical Yemeni clothing but there are a lot of varieties depending on the region.

I wanted to refrain from making this post but some of the ignorant, false and idiotic claims forced me to do it.
