Respectfully disagree. I think Islam does recognize differences and people are free to wear in accordance with their culture with certain limits.

Any dress is Islamic for any gender as long as it fulfills the conditions set by islam.

Be it trousers and shirts, kandoora, traditional Chinese dress or any other dress. If you see the old traditional Chinese dress for women hanfu (han4fu2 汉&#26381 they fulfill all the conditions of Islam regarding how a woman should dress. Moreover if you see the old traditional Chinese dress for men it is also long dress like arabs'.

Here what our Muslims wear is called lungi. Its not white but usually colored chequered pattern.

Basically it is not pulled up from middle. So like a sari, it is open from down.
