If there is a war of resistance to Chinese aggression, all it take is one major naval disaster for the PLAN to derail or at least delay whatever expansion China has for the SCS. As the PLAN withdraws, lesser navies will move in and set patrol stakes. The longer the PLAN stays out of the SCS, the more entrenched those defensive lines will be. And this is not even counting the presence of the US Navy to assist.

Are you willing to bet that the PLAN will not suffer at least one major casualty?

Agree. IMHO the top priority should be Navy then Air Force and then Army. PLA is on the right path by increasing Marines and decreasing Army.
