Sarkozy to Seek China Aid as EU Expands Rescue Fund

(Reuters) - German industry group BDI has warned Europe not to make political concessions if it seeks Chinese help in solving the euro zone debt crisis, Spiegel magazine wrote in its online edition.

No political concessions, hmm. They get to keep going on about Human rights, Democracy, etc. That's fine.

The real prize is being recognized as a market economy by the EU. I'd take any amount of whining about human rights, if we could get that kind of an economic concession. Which seems to be inevitable anyway.

Yeah, but that is also fraught with difficulties. If European industries are not competitive in a global environment, then a simple change of management will not fix the underlying factors. The worst thing would be a Chinese-owned factory laying off thousands of European workers and moving shop to China!

Unfortunately that is often the best way, to make such companies profitable in a short amount of time. PR nightmare though.

We'll probably end up doing what we did with Volvo and MG Rover.

Yes. Notice that it's an INDUSTRY group that is making noise, not social activists or bankers.

I think they see the writing on the wall and are afraid of that "market economy" designation which would make Chinese imports more competitive.

Why should China clean up all the mess of Europeans' laziness and incompetence?
Who they think they are? "We don't want to make politic concessions for aid."
If the Europeans don't really need aid then please just shut up. There are far more important things in the world than the Euro crisis. For example, how is it going on the investigation in Thailand? Hu should go to Bangkok and doing some real work instead of going to France to attend some sort of G20 summit.

Think about what would happen if the EU recognized as us a market economy. That would stop them from using trade barriers against Chinese products.

That will pay for itself in the long-run, no problem. This is our chance to grab the EU economy.

We've been handling their "human rights" BS for so long, why should we care if they continue it?

According to the WTO treaties, China will be treated as a "market economy" by 2016. It's just a few years ahead.
Why bother to save such a group of ungrateful barking dogs with our reserve when they are called as "dirty money" by those gentlemen in Brussel.

Why bother to save such a group of ungrateful barking dogs with our money?

It's not about them, it is about us.

The EU is still the largest customer of our products, and a huge chunk of our currency reserves are denominated in Euros.

We need to be practical here, our economy is still highly vulnerable to global crashes. During the 2008 Credit crunch, we lost millions of factory jobs. I don't want to see that again, especially if we can do something about it.

Same reason why we lend so much money to America, so they can continue buying our products. They get further into debt, and it benefits our own people in the end.

Lend money to the europe so they can continue buying our products while having six months vocation per year?
I think not.

Well, who is going to replace the EU as our largest export customer then?

What is the realistic solution?

It is the largest but not that large that we have to pay $100 billion for their debt. I don't believe that the Europeans will let the euro to collapse. They just want some free money or cheap loan to ease their pain.

They actually don't really need us money. The most realistic solution is to kick the Greek's *** and to make them work during working hours.

Fair enough.

I hope you are right.

Also, we need reduce exports as a percentage of our GDP, to prevent ourselves from being vulnerable to these global crashes. Right now it is at 29%, but it should go much lower.

Once we do that, we will no longer need to loan so much money to the Western world, or have to suffer so much when they crash.

Why would anyone buy their debts ? I think their biggest apologists should finance their debts.

Most of the European tech is actually tech transfer from U.S.

China would be stupid if offer to help as the EU still has so many trade bias and arm embargo against your Chinese.

Would EU do the same if China itself in dare strait? I seriously doubt if they don't put heavenly huge cap on it.

It's all up to China to change the current evil world order put on by the west.
China should never, NEVER help Europe. The Europeans are the people who destroyed China and imposed the Opium Wars.

My Chinese brother I believe the time is coming...an Asian Century, lets do something new...an Asian Millennium!
Yes the Europeans are cunning and deceptors . We need to rein them real good and don't give them enough rope to use it against us....:smokin:

Moody's Threatens Downgrade of France's Triple A Rating | Economy | English

The Moody's ratings agency warns that France's credit rating could be downgraded in the next three months if the nation's budget is stretched further by bank bailouts to help other debt-heavy eurozone countries. France has vowed to defend its AAA credit rating

The Next Domino? Top Economists Warn of France Downgrade - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News - International

Top German economists are warning that France's AAA rating could be in danger should additional measures become necessary to prop up indebted euro-zone members or to save ailing banks

Which of the links say that France 'escaped' downgrade as you claimed?

Rather than throwing useless links why not just accept you were wrong.

you are not willing to read the research in this very thread, let alone elsewhere, nobody can help you. China will buy Eurobonds, but mostly as a "goodwill gesture" to secure other deals.

Yes, it's all an incredible day dream.

No sources, No logic; only your own concocted crap. And you expect anybody to believe your claims..

From your own link Later on....

"We have crossed a boundary if euro states say, 'we will offer you a political concession in order for you to give us money'," Keitel said. "For example, we could not offer China compromises in intellectual property law in return for money for the rescue fund."

In France in particular, criticism of the plea for Chinese help is fierce. The opposition Socialists accused President Nicolas Sarkozy of making Europe appear weak.

And you were claiming Europes IP rights are up for sale when even its mention has such opposition.

French don't even want to appear weak to the Chinese, and you suggest wholeslae technology buys....ridiculous.
