link - Traders urge govt to take notice of Shoaib humiliation

KARACHI: Chairman Traders Action Committee Siddiq Memon has urged the government to take notice of the humiliating treatment being meted out to Pakistani star Shoaib Malik in India, warning the traders community may launch a protest in this regard.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the TAC chairman said the government should take immediate notice of the humiliating treatment given to Shoaib in India.

Memon warned that Indian goods would be boycotted at trade centers if any action was taken against the cricketer.

He said the Indian government should provide security to Shoaib and remove the hurdles being created ahead of his wedding.

Otherwise, Indian goods available at trade centers would be set on fire, angry Memon said.

Shoaib Malik is currently in Indian city of Hyderabad Deccan, where he is due to wed Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.

However, a case has been filed by an Indian girl Ayesha Siddiqi against him leveling allegation of fraud and cheating.

:D

No offence but if this is girl he fell for and agree to do telephonic Nikah then Shoaib deserves what he is getting.

BTW there is uncanny similarity between the girl in photo and Ayesha S..
It could be Maha's picture from her teenhood.

It could be that she's some younger cousin of Maha's.

It could be BS. No other source showing this.

Marriage need not be register, just to be proved you are married by whatever means.

No they have to be registered yara...................... All marriages in Pakistan are registered. You know the marriage certificate is not easy to get from anywhere, the local maulvi's get one book of marriage certificate and they keep record of each and every sheet of that book whether it was filled or not. If they make error in writing marriage certificate they still have to keep that certificate to show in the committee and even if 1 sheet is missing consider they are sued up

The law is very strict for registering the marriage and usually the Maulvi saab who read nikah and write down nikah on behalf of Bride and the groom also register in the committee. They don't let other touch the whole book........... and try to keep it safe

:hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

so WHAT is the problem then. How do they legally document a marriage :pop:

Dude, my roomie actually quoted a friend who got divorced. Their marriage was never registred in India. They apparently used the "video-cassette" of marriage as proof of marriage.

My roomie is currently facing difficulty in bringing his wife to US on a H4 visa because they did not register their marriage at that time.

And no, you cannot claim that Aishwarya Rai is your wife, but if Aishwarya Rai can produce witnesses she can claim that you are her husband.

.
Police got the email addresses of shoaib and Ayesha which they used to mail each other.

For those of you that are unclear still. This is the current "effed-up" Indian law.

Marriages don't need to be registered, so as long as the girl has some sort of a witness for your "marriage", you are married to that girl.

If your wife files a domestic violence case against you, you are screwed. You can be jailed until you prove yourself innocent!

P.S. Correct me if I am wrong Indians.

nop

you are wrong... be it hindu be it muslim everybody have to register marriage...

though if you have some proof of your marriage(photo etc) you can use them as an evidence @ court to prove that you were married (incase of cheating or dowry)

:D

we should rather discuss the legal aspects of this case don't you think???

first the nikkah nama is issued from sialkot.now as per pakistani law nikkah nama should be returned to court or nikkah khuwan so that it can be registered and an entry is made into govt record. After this 3 copies are produced one for husband, one for wife and one for govt record.this has not been done.secondly as already mentioned by some members signatures of witnesses were missing in the copy of nikkah nama shown on TV.this in itself can make the nikkah nama void as legal formalities were not fulfilled.

shoeib can say in court that since nikka nama was issued in pakistan so only pakistani law can judge whether it stands void or not.

its like the case if a agreement is signed on pakistani stamp paper only court in pakistan can judge whether it is authentic or not.

other than that most allegations will be hard to prove.

like telephonic nikkah and other things

That is Pakistan and in US too every marriage needs to be registered. Apparently, it's not the same in India.

Not in India, lot of people over here believe in traditions more than law. Hence a lot of marriages don't get registered. The laws have to modified accordingly. In court, you just need to provide evidence of marriage.

The laws meant for marriage were extended to Live in couples to protect woman's interest in India. So not much difference between marriage and live in couples nowadays.
