Having travelled in Eastern Europe extensively mainly Poland, Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, CR and Romania - I can t story that their culture and mannerisms are at odds with Western Europe.

Only 11% of Ukrainians speak English, this is a common theme among Slavic counties, with the exception of kyiv, majority of Ukranians lead a very simply rural life with the mainstay being agriculture, animal husbandry and labourers.

There is a cultural difference too, orthodox Christians are very different from Anglican, Methodist and Catholic Christians.
