This has nothing to do with Western hegemony or kowtowing to the West.

What Imran Khan has done is proven, once again, that he is a man of principle and will not compromise on his principles even if there is a political cost or danger to his life.

He said what any sane, rational individual would say, that while we can disagree and condemn Salman Rushdies actions, there is absolutely no justification for the violent attack against him.

This applies to every case where an individual is accused of 'blasphemy' - condemn what you perceive as wrong, but do not take the law into your hands and use violence.


This is not an 'alternate point of view' - it is support and glorification of violence and terrorism against those with whose views you disagree.

Imran Khan has probably learned a lot from his first term as President.

Its about giving different camps what they want to hear, in a balanced way. Its a realpolitik approach that is proven to yield long term benefit. Lie low and work for your countries betterment. If it soothes someone to think less of you because you ape, let them do it, as it wont harm a person or a nation with real self-defined goals. A long term goal oriented entity dosent get tangled up in less relevant smaller details. This is exactly how China made it.

(1) Ok so you are no longer claiming someone would get charged with something for speaking openly against the Queen? What kind of speech are you claiming would get you locked up?

(2) You are all over the place are n't you? Your claims keep changing. First it's you can't teach it, then you'll get attacked, you can't question it to it never happened. A rather desperate and woeful attempt to justify violence. Ignorance, political or racism or a combination of all perhaps.

The blasphemy issue as well as the public role and sanctity of religion are toxic for Pakistani society.
