Russian think tank calls for sale of Su-35 fighters to Pakistan

Pakistan Airforce wanted to induct a squadron of some foregin jets
the two options were SU35 or Eurofighter, even your ex Chief of air staff passed papers but Nawaz didn't let him to go for it, secondly that time Russia didn't agreed to give su35
Now Russia needs money and cooperation and more important Pakistan is friend of china too which will help Russia to have a good axis ,

What about inducting some other tech birds so u can have mixture in your 5th generation
i mean buying stuff from different countries is better than fully independent on china and SU35 can give u an edge

The Su35 as per available data is more rugged then Su30 i.e requires less maintenance only area where Pak has to look is continuous availability of spares so we may not face difficulties like others have faced in case of Russian jets in the past. If Su 35 is inducted further area of improvement shall be it's radar the Russian PESA radar should be changed with Chinese AESA being used in case of Chinese J series.

That is already happenning. I think SU35 is unlikely as is EFT due to cost restraints at the moment. If we start looking at induction in 2022- 24 J20/J31 will be ready so why not go for it for a significant material and quality advantage. I think this is the dilemma facing PAF. I think if J20 is unavailable and China cannot export J16 only then will we be looking at EFT. So wjile we do our homework we need to sit itght and induct Block3 first and reassess our sutuation once the bird is at least in our hands and flying.

Only area of concern shall be Rafael, question is can our F16s and near future JF17 block III, handle the Rafael if time comes. Further India is also looking to induct further new type of jet in near future.

Kuch khuda ka khouf karo, Dams banane and Loans wapas karne kae paise nahi and 2-3 Billion $ ke deals ke baat horahe hai yahan !

If PAF buys modernized SU-35 would actually be one of the great purchases. New platform, new techniques, new weapons, new knowledge. It will give the much needed technical enhancement in PAC industry and overall fill the gap of a long range strategic fighter.

With SU-35 induction, Rd-93, and other aviation design items will relatively easily come to Pakistan from Russia.

Our whole western-Chinese LLR network is prone to jamming.

If PAF buys Su35 we can get 24/36 fighters in 1 Billion $ where as EF would cost 2 billion $ to get a sizable fleet of 24/36.
The chinese bought 24 fighters for 2 billion and they have the setup in place to support the SU series. How are you going to buy 24-36 planes for 1 billion? You are looking at a 4 billion outlay and that we cannot afford.

To add more for you comment sir China already have SU-27/Su-30MKK so maintenance/spare is not a problem for China, i think if Su-35 deal finalist it will cost lot more than Chinese deal may be 5-6 billion $ @araz

They cannot, its 3 days to go and there is no money. PAF will have to shut up and eat grass like the rest of us for a long time and hope the nuclear weapons keep everyone at bay.
Well let see because T-129 and ADA Class deal are also announced during caretaker time.

Hi,

That is absolutely pathetic---.

For a muslim / pakistani warrior to think that 80 % of the enemy assets are worthless is shocking---.

Russian think tank calls for sale of Su-35 fighters to Pakistan in retaliation to India opting out of FGFA
However, Russian Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies Deputy Director Konstantin Makienko views are yet to gain currency in Russia with Moscow-based Center for Strategic Trends Studies Director Ivan Konovalov pointing out that India has been a friend for several decades and any move to sell state-of-art weapons to Pakistan carry very high risk.

New Delhi: Is Russia unhappy with India's decision to pull out of the project to jointly develop a Fifth-Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) and planning to sell one of its top jets - Sukhoi Su-35 - to Pakistan in retaliation? According to Russian news outlet Pravda, a defence thinktank has called for Moscow not to prioritise India's interest too much even though it still buys most of its defence equipment from Russia.

"We do not want to offend the Indians, but I believe that against the backdrop of India's hesitation about the project of the fifth generation fighter, Russia should promote the Su-35 fighter jet in Pakistan. Otherwise, Chinese, South Korean or even Turkish companies will take this market in about five years," Russian Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies Deputy Director Konstantin Makienko was quoted as saying by Pravda.

India and Russia had signed an inter-governmental agreement in 2007 to jointly develop and produce a fifth-generation stealth fighter for their air forces but in July 2018 Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharam announced that New Delhi has conveyed to Moscow that they can go ahead with the project and India may join it at a later stage following disputes over the cost and performance of the proposed fighter.
"India has removed all moral obligations from Russia with its behaviour, so Russia should get rid of self-restraint in its relations with Pakistan. In the past, we would often decline profitable contracts with Pakistan for the sake of India, but now we should follow our own interests of commercial profit," said Makienko. The Sukhoi Su-35 Flanker-E air-superiority fighter is the most advanced fourth generation jet in service with the Russian military.

Pakistan has had a close strategic and defence relationship with USA and China although in recent years it has tried to get closer to Russia too. While the relationship with USA has been rocky in the last few years, especially after the 9/11 terror attacks and the killing of al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden in the garrison town of Abbottabad, its ties with China have grown exponentially as both the countries have been laying claims over Indian territory.

However, Makienko views are yet to gain currency in Russia with Moscow-based Center for Strategic Trends Studies Director Ivan Konovalov pointing out that India has been a friend for several decades and any move to sell state-of-art weapons to Pakistan carry very high risk.

"Russia's cooperation with India began back during the times of the Soviet Union. Orders from India and China had saved our military-industrial complex, and India always pays attention to how cooperation between Russia and Pakistan develops, considering this cooperation hazardous to its interests at times," he told Pravda.

Konovalov added that Russia had sold multipurpose helicopters like Mi-8 and Mi-17 to Pakistan and there was nothing wrong if India, too, was trying to get defence equipment from other countries including the USA, France and Israel.

While admitting that India pulling out of the FGFA programme was a setback, it must be kept in mind that the two countries have collaborated successfully in developing several weapons in the past and continue to enjoy a healthy defence and strategic relationship. Konovalov also said that Russia will cooperate Pakistan only in the fields that do not affect India's interests.

Russia has already opened its doors for Pakistan. India is buying weapons from both USA and Russia and Pakistan is being provided the same grounds from Russia. This is nothing new but already happening. All Russian weapons are available to Pakistan, India at max can only delay the delivery but cannot stop Russia from delivery to Pakistan. I think in future Russia will play as a middle ground between India and Pakistan with China as major weapons provider for Pakistan.

May be rassian playing game for back india in deal thats why! We should not take serious when we well sign deal then we will belive its long process
We are negotiating with Russian since long time, we need at least one squadron twin engine long range air superiority fighter and I must say SU-35 is a decent jet but Russian are known bad supplier of parts and maintenance of these jets is quite high...we don't have trained staff to maintain these jets especially when our requirement is only 24 to 36 jets...I don't think so this deal will ever reach anywhere because of our economy and technical points...

S 400 and pantsr r on there way , Su 35 may maynot join.

and from where pak is going to pay for su 35? secondly paf will come up with their old rhetoric that it is a new jet and we will need funds and training for the new platform so we wont buy it. they will wait for next 10-15 yrs when america will need pak again for their evil designs and then paf will opt for f-16 blk 70.
