Hi all - I hope you are well !
Can anyone give information on differences between PKM and PKP from an actual users perspective.
To me the PKM is the best GPMG in the world. It is lighter, more reliable, more durable, has better center of gravity (close to body) so it can be fired accurately while standing / crouched, feeds from the right allowing better situational awareness in 2 man teams and uses a non disintegrating belt alowing for faster reloads in combat and easier recovery if the gunner needs to move rapidly from position. Every one of those features make it absolutely perfect. So this makes me wonder what real improvements the PKP has - its a little heavier so what did they improve to make this weight increase acceptable.
Has the center of gravity changed ?
Is there a reason for the removal of the rapid change barrel ? How much more effort is involved now in changing the barrel ?
