Russian fighter jets intercept U.S. F-22 Raptor flying over Syria

Visual, via IRST pod.

This implies that an F-22 was really close to Russian Jet at the time. Happens, in a congested airspace with lot of activity.
So it means it is detectable to an IRST. What is the detection range of IRST on Su35s.
Well, It is too early to conclude anything.

Yankee pigs have put foot in Syria from 10,000 miles further without Syrian government or U.N authorization. They should put in their place.

IRST Systems such as the OLS-35 cannot guide missiles, even if the F-22 gets detected by the IRST, the only option against it would be guns. If the F-22 wanted the Su-35 dead, it would have been dead many kilometers ago.

How stealthy do you think 40,000 lb of metal is to radar? Answer: Not At All.

If you think F-22 can fly over Moscow undetected you are wrong.

F-22 is 40,000 lb of metal. Stealth to radar? B F S.
IRST is not radar, genius.

In a conflict scenario, the SU-35 will be long gone before it ever enters within a 50kms radius to actually find F-22 or F-35 for that matter. That is the whole purpose of low observable air crafts.
Absolutely.

F-22 Raptor can see another non-equivalent aircraft from over 400 KM away and shoot it down ASAP.

Dude, please. You are really showing your ignorance now.

SU-35 established visual contact with F-22 via IRST. This is not radar.

. . .
Nonsense. OLS-35 IRST does not have that kind of range; 50 KM maximum.

The photo circulating around is clearly IRST imaging.

This was not a haphazard encounter. Su-35 tracked F-22 from hundreds of km away then came over to take a picture.

And where is proof?

Syria represent a congested airspace for all stakeholders with many aircraft conducting sortie over it, at a time. It is possible for an F-22 to come within line-of-sight of IRST of an SU-35 at some point. Not a big deal.

F-22 is designed to hinder radar detection with combination of its shape (minimum edges), RAM coating, low-observable equipment and EW capabilities. Remote chance to pick on one even with airborne AWACS, from far away.

A German guy with a slow as **** Chessna landed undetected on the red square in center moscow...

if a German dude in a Chessna can do it the F-22 can do it too....

Congested? Dude. Have you seen WW2 skies? Thousands of planes.
