I guess this should be the way forward and Russia too realizes to break the US-India nexus in Afghanistan they will have to work with Pakistan . Considering Syria its now evident that Russia has come out of her hibernation and wont mind a military action in Kabul with Pakistani help and so comes these mountain warfare exercises.

It makes sense too compared to India and US who has no border with Afghanistan its Pak-Russia to exercise influence in the region.

what i meant by my comment is that Russia was always there to have healthy and cooperative relations with Pakistan but we ignored her in favor of West.. we have good relations with USSR in 50's but then we sign SEATO and CENTO, and give military bases to US to spy on USSR and in 60's relations went down.. in 70's then prime minister's efforts made very good development with USSR but Zia ruined everything and start war on USSR and USSR was dissolved but her successor(RUSSIA) tend to mend ties with Benazir and even offers to sell Su-27 to Pak but that was a game which we were playing with them in 90's to create mistrust between India and Russia..

A Russian delegation on Thursday arrived in Pakistan to discuss the sale of military hardware.

According to a statement by ISPR, a meeting was held between the delegation which was led by Fomin Alexander Vasilyevich, Director of Federal Service for Military – Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation (FSMTC) and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at General Headquarters.
