Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments PART 2

M1 ABRAMS max range is upwards of 2,500 meters (8,200 ft). The best Russian tanks* max range is just UNDER 2,000 meters (6,600 ft). Those depleted uranium rounds will be insanely nasty.

Of course, none of this will matter if Ukraine doesn't deploy or use them correctly.

Best Russian tanks are equipped with cannon fired ATGMs that can outrange APFSDS shells.

However I doubt they have many of these.

Also, APFSDS shells can hit targets at even 4,000 meters.

Those ATMs with 1000mm or so penetration are less effective against ERA or composite armour. APFSDS generally has more reliable penetration, even when compared to tandems.

Quite a loud admission that they cannot protect their airfields anymore !! Oh how the mighty fall and how the S400 continues to prove it is a dud as it cannot protect stategic russian airfields at all now.

They're hardly "duds". Russia is not going to use the S-400 missiles on small, Australian-built cardboard drones carrying bomblets or 10 sticks of TNT that no radar can pick up. 🙂 No one would. They wouldn't even use TORs or Buks if they can't be seen.

In the meantime, any protective measure is better than none, especially when there is a higher probability that the attacks came from inside of Russian territory. Seems like an improvised, crude form of "ERA". Nothing wrong with that in times of war until a better and more effective way of dealing with this new and difficult to defend against threat. I'll bet the UAF is staying well away from any S-400 reach or other Russian long and medium range SAMs which is what those are designed for. They're not made to take down tiny, invisible to radar drones.

Open this video on full screen and turn up the volume. If the Russian got their act together and did more of this on critical targets, it will be devastating for the Ukrainians. And this looks like it's only from 2 BM-21 GRAD launchers.

In any case targeting Russian power infrastructure would hurt their economy especially production of goods and services and banking, even their military production perhaps. Even force them to shift their SAMs systems to defend whatever and wherever they are.
The immediate goal is to divert Russia troop and at least protective barrier back into Russia, when Russia think Russia itself is not safe, they will have to do that. That's why Ukraine has been hitting Russian strategic target inside Russia, forcing them to relocate their defense.

On the other hand, nobody knows how good or bad the Russia had left defending the 2nd and 3rd defensive line. Consensus is that it is subpar than the first line because it would have been remnant of the unit that left behind which mean it would have to be at least in bits and pieces even if their quality is the same. Couple with the fact that at least half (at least the Challenger 2 and Abrams) of the Western Armour is uncommitted, they are saving it for probably one push, it can be this year, it can be next, things probably will not go Russia way for long.

They would.........actually anyone would

Because you are not talking about the cost of the drone, but the cost of the havoc.

The drone is what? $3000 if you look at it this way, sure, it not worth a single S-400 interceptor.,

However, if you look at how much damage it had caused? 4 IL-76 at least worth 10 million..........and that is also only what they did get, it can be more.......

You don't ignore the defence just because you were hit with cheap drone, this is why there were report on Ukraine downing Shahed with PAC-3 interceptor

On the other hand, you want your rocket artillery to hit target, not spray and prey. That's why 2 HIMARS launcher will do a lot more damage than 2 full salvos on Grad. Ask any Ukrainian and you will know because they too operate Grad. And there are at least 3 Grad launcher here

They can't use the S400 on cruise missiles or ballistic missiles either lol.

S400 is overrated garbage designed to scam other nations.

The calculation of the Russian ATGM strikes a Ukrainian tank in the Zaporozhye direction. The date and place of the battle are unknown. The video is in English, there are subtitles in other languages.
