What would happen if Poland sends troops into Ukraine outside of NATO? It would make Polish military bases legitimate targets no?

Poland can send troops to Ukraine without much happening.
As long as they do not fire on Russia first, any attack on Polish bases will trigger article 5.

many Polish mercenaries have been killed in Ukraine and I believe there is also a Polish regiment in Ukraine

Looks like it is put in reverse, or people dismount just before the footage stops. That and the fact no aftermath is shown, is probably evidence of no major damage.

Poland can't send troop to Ukraine on their own, Poland as in Polish Armed Force.

Poland can send men into Ukraine, as much as the US, UK, Australia, Turks and other European countries did, some of them may have military training, but active military are not allowed, as in they will charge you for desertion.

The amazing thing about targeting the NASAMS AIR DEFENCE SYSTEM is that the radar of the AN / MPQ-64 Sentinel system was working, meaning that the entire system was activated.
