Russia to Sell 127 FGFA fighter aircrafts to India

Besides, France is putting forward modified Mistral for India's naval requirements....
Sir,I dont think India will opted for Mistral. There are two main reason, first it will irritate Russia and second one India already looking for homemade LHD (under "Make in India" campaign). so, buying ready made LHD(thoght its one of the best) doesn't give any decisive advantage as like Rafael which required on urgent basis.

India was considering buying 126 French Rafale but only 36 will join the Indian Air Force. Modi and Putin met last December and spoke about the non-delivery of the Mistral LHD due to the ongoing Ukrainian conflict. India have turned its back on France due to the failed delivery of the Mistral LHDs to Russia. That said, India also has concerns on the future delivery of Rafale parts based on the possibility of having the United States putting pressure on France to limits its exportation to India.

PURE BS. The FGFA purchase has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Rafale purchase or the Mistral fiasco- this is Russian propaganda.

More Rafales are on the way and they won't effect FGFA orders one bit.

SO MMRCA cancellation was to make way for FGFA and LCA production lines in HAL, that too this early

Smart move if true.
They are totally unrelated mate. The FGFA is going to be made at Nasik (the MKI's current production line) and the LCA already has its own dedicated production line, for the Rafale HAL had already identified a site for setting up a brand new and separate production line.

The DM has said he wants more Rafales (and that too made in India) and this is being worked out with the French Govt to see how many they can get.

Damn.... that's a hot news.... So as per my earlier thoughts we'd see fgfa before 2020... when will be the first prototype going to land in india???
Well considering the first FGFA prototype was meant to be undergoing testing in India as we speak (by 2015) the fact Russia are promising to deliver the first prototype now only in 3 years time is in no way impressing me. Let's not ignore the fiasco this project has been until now and continue to be, I'm not buying all this article has to say.

Dude this is a fanboy article. Don't give it a weight.

is this a real photo??
Of course not, the Russians haven't bothered to show any sort of respect to India in this regard until now. Had it been the F-35 India had signed up for at least you would have seen the Indian flag alongside all the other partner nations in all their publications.

@PARIKRAMA What a news mate! hope it is correct, this would be a massive event.

Russia will deliver its first FGFA in 36 months instead of the previous estimation of 94 months. After the first batch built in Russia, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will takeover the production under transfer of technology.
Any idea when this 3 year period will get counted from? Even if PAK FA arrives by late 2018, it will change all equations of squadron strength numbers we are counting on other threads.

It (the news being true) kind of explains the initial low order number for Rafales. It seems both Rafale and PAK FA will get inducted simultaneously from 2017 onwards.

Jumla means
Catch phrase.

More Rafales are on the way and they won't effect FGFA orders one bit.
Technically yes, but looks tricky how they are going to find budget, more so considering the implied scenario of both Rafale and FGFA entering service almost side by side.

India was supposed to have a hand in designing software and providing composites for PAK FA project. That hasn't happened. PMF was to be modified through a joint venture with Indian industries. That also hasn't happened.
  • At this stage, we cannot make "huge changes" in the aircraft, because we have none of the required information.
  • If India and Russia sign on for a long-term design and production contract around PAK FA project, only then will India have design inputs into the aircraft.
  • Without said project, even if India decides to buy T-50s, we would be looking at a venture similar to MKI: that is, Russia modifies aircraft with respect to our requirements.
The item 117 engines have not yet been finalised, and so the T-50 prototypes are flying on uprated AL-31 family engines.

36 months from now?

I am 100% sure that IAF is looking for different fighters like:
Rafaels
M-2000s
EF-2000s
F-18s
MiG-35s
Su-35s

All of them in the fleet.

PAK-FA is Russian junk.

India should focus all that money fast developing on the HAL AMCA.

all these T50 stuff is to cheat India money. only 12 of it? what a fcking joke.
