Russia sends its only aircraft carrier to Syria in response to US

The dudes are bad but their gear sucks. Can they even run carrier ops at night ? Not too long ago they couldn't. I'm not sure what they can do now. Sixty nine ? One of my favorite numbers. Sixty eight is great, too. She does you and you owe her one.:bunny:

I can beep posting more equipment but I have no time and I highly doubt you have the same equipment as those soldiers. You might have a helmet or ref dot site that's similar or the same but most of the stuff they have is not available in the US like the Viking pistol, kord heavy machine gun, encrypted radio sets.

Mix of Su-33s and Mig-29Ks will bomb the ISIS like anything.....

.
No need to take Russia so lightly, if they have rusted equipment then who is stopping NATO from interfering in ukraine after annexation of Crimea or why the ukraine is not taken into NATO

Russian Naval Aviation ordered 20 MiG-29K and 4 MiG-29KUB. These aircraft were all delivered by early 2016.
Would be interesting test case.

How do you say 'kamikaze' in Russian ?
Old version камикадзе new version, to recklessly follow a path with no plan for return " to Putin"

Was a great ship , hope they don't have to tow it back this time.

Even if its rusty, i still think its more than enough for opposition/militants/rebel and terrorist groups in Syria where Russia is engaged against. In fact Russia saves indirectly by its equipment being sub par to that of more advanced western powers, since we have to use expensive gears/equipment,precision guided bombs, etc in the country against terrorist groups, costs us much more even though its true the collateral damage is minimized. But then again, who cares, we will be damned/blamed if we use more expensive smart precise/accurate weapons or if we use dumb bombs like Russia. So why not just use dumb bombs/old equipment?:D

To be honest though, Russia has never really been a real maritime/naval power per se,compared to sea going western powers. They always had a different war doctrine as a land power first , then naval power second.

The MiG-29K is a drastically modification for naval operations of the Mikoyan MiG-29M, a fighter aircraft that was itself developed as an advanced variant of the Mikoyan MiG-29.

The Mig29M was to fulfill the Russian requirement for a multirole fighter for the front line defensive air force, with offensive strike ability. This development resulted in a single seat and a double seat variant. The proposal was then grounded as a result of shifts in military strategy. The model was named "MiG-33" and later received the MiG-29ME designation for export market in the mid-1990s. A twin seat model of the standard, commonly known as the MiG-29MRCA, was the MAPO-MiG's primary contender for many international fighter aircraft bids, later evolved into the Mikoyan MiG-35. Six of these models were built before 1990. They were constantly upgraded with various components and one received experimental vector thrust engines which eventually became the MiG-29OVT. The model was again renamed as MiG-29M.

The MiG-29M/M2 now belongs to the "new unified family" instead of the "MiG-29 fighters family" which comprise the older variants. While external differences are few, the MiG-29M was a fully "multifunctional" fighter capable of performing air-to-ground combat with precision-guided munitions (PGMs), along with air-to-air roles of earlier MiG-29 versions. Pilot-aircraft interfaces in the cockpit were also improved and a wide range of new-generation equipment installed. The aircraft's internal fuel capacity was also increased to add combat range

"Russia is a land animal," I said; "the British are sea animals."

Lol well, we are a island nation reason we have always been a naval power . It's also the same reason why naval powers like Britain, France and the U.S conquered so many countries around the four corners of the globe while a land power like Russia could only venture as far as it's neighbourhood from Eastern Europe, Balkans, Scandinavia borders(Finland),central Asia and parts of China/northeast Asia (Manchuria, korea etc).

Different world outlook/war doctrine .:)

While we are bringing up Stalin I was wondering if there is anyone left to Captain the Kuznetsov?

On June 29, the Russian Defense Ministry announced it was purging the entire senior and mid-level command of the Baltic Fleet. It was a dramatic move that suggested deep structural problems within the fleet command. In total, 50 officers were dismissed from their post, including the fleet commander, Vice Admiral Viktor Kravchuk, and his chief of staff, Vice Admiral Sergei Popov.

Not since Stalin's purges had so many officers been ousted at once.
