Russia offers Pakistan for exporting 5000MW electricity

Invest 50% on cheap Hydro electrical Russian offer that would not depend on oil and oil price.
And 50% for self dependence in electricity generation in PK. That can make a balanced and efficient investment.

Or invest all on Russian offer, then get electricity in short time, then GDP will increase, then get self defendant in future, plus the old Russian offer will also remain.

We could have a simultaneous plan and create a set up or infrastructure that can easily take foreign transmission and then be converted to pick power from our own sources. For the short term we can use the electricity from foreign sources (5-10 years maximum) use the cushion to vigorously invest in our own capabilities and then switch. It's not perfect but that's practically the best we can do withwhat we have.

How is the Solar power thing in Pakistan? Like in India we have invested heavily in that sector recently...

IMO Pakistan must increase their electricity generation capacity...it acts as a limiting factor for Industry growth.

We have been investing in the sector but it is small scale like putting solar powered lights on streets and some people have started buying solar plates for their homes. It's there but wholescale governmental projects have not been seen to impact the situation as of yet.

Good luck. Small things like that are great. But in the end Government projects go a long way - a number of mega projects have recently come up here :)
Japan and Germany are moving that way. The world will follow :D

Yes, hopefully, we would start investing in the sector. Small scale projects can be great for the country.

Honourable sir! Do you think that the Japanese and the Germans voluntarily abandon nuclear power plant? No. Just economic power of these countries coming to a dangerous point, after which it will be converted into political and military power. And some people who now controls these countries do not want to lose control of them - they do not want to have two new competitors on the world stage. Can you guess who it is? Give a clue - this one occupied Japan and Germany for many, many years ago and do not intend to withdraw its troops from their territory.

Can somebody tell me why are we trying so hard to become dependent on other countries for electricity amounts of 5000 MW?

Nawaz Sharif has gone totally bonkers.

Why the heck do we need to import electricity (which will probably come 3 years later) all the way from Russia or CAS?

Itnay saalon main koi apna intizam hi kar lo and be self sufficient.

If you read news, you would be clear. Besides exporting, they will send their team to Pakistan to invest in Coal Projects i.e. Gadani, Thar, and Jamshoro.

The official said that Russia has also sought a role in developing coal-based projects at Gadani, arguing that it has the best expertise in the world to make such coal based projects.Additionally, the Russian delegation also offered its services to install power projects based on the lignite coal of Thar.

“In the meeting, the visiting team also expressed its willingness to install a 600MW coal based project at Jamshoro,” the official said, adding that both sides have decided to hold another meeting some time in November at the Joint Working Level to workout a roadmap for future cooperation in the energy sector.

A coal power plant can start producing electricity in 3 years time and Pakistan has abundance of coal mines and its cheaper too though not cheaper then hydel energy

Correct me if I m wrong but Quality of Thar Coal is not suitable for electricity generation ......

It's not up to standard but it can be pre mixed with imported coal and i trust apart from that they might have coal in other parts too

Russia offers Pakistan for exporting 5000MW electricity

ISLAMABAD: Russia has offered Pakistan to invest in energy sector and export 5000 MW electricity through Kyrgyzstan-Afghanistan route.

A Russian delegation led by deputy minister for energy, comprised representatives of major energy companies here on Thursday called on Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal and discussed cooperation in energy sector.

The delegation extended its cooperation in energy sector including import of electricity, LNG, natural gas, coal power production and oil and gas exploration.

Russian investors offered 100 per cent technical and financial solutions for the Jamshoro and Muzaffargarh power plants and also showed interest to invest in Gaddani Power Park.

Russia is building hydro-power plants in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan including 3900MW project in Kyrgyz Republic and looking for new markets to export cheap electricity.

Russian delegation made an initial offer of 1000MW which would subsequently be increased to 5000MW and this electricity will be available throughout the year.

Russian Companies also showed interest in export of LNG and oil exploration in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, the Russian minister said that he was encouraged with policies of the government and Russian investors are eager to invest in energy sector of Pakistan.

He stressed the need for constituting a working group to tap the potential of energy cooperation between the two countries and offered cooperation in modernising existing thermal plants and shifting them into coal-fired technology.

Ahsan Iqbal informed that there was a great potential between both the countries for cooperation. “We welcome Russian investment in our energy sector. We are in the center of three major engines of growth which puts us at strategically important position,” he added.

South Asia, China and Central Asia represent a market of three billion people, he added.

The minister urged Russian investors for taking advantage of this opportunity as Pakistan possesses rich resources and offers best incentive for foreign investors.

Ahsan Iqbal said that government believes in transparency and zero tolerance against corruption for socio-economic uplift of the country.

If Russia really want to help, it can build 5000 MW Nuclear Power Plants in Pakistan. That would help tremendously if built in areas where Electricity is needed so there is no issue of line losses.

russia does not want to 'help' pakistan.. they want a market and you need their product which they can afford to sell cheap, due to their investment in the place of their choice.
you will pay for what you get, so need not bother about line loss, thats russia's loss.

.
Take it!. Its much cheaper and itll bring Russia and Pakistan closer. Getting 5000 MW of electricity would mean strong russian interest in Pakistan which would benefit Pakistan in international politics. Not only that, we can get the 5,000 MW on a 10 year term. And in the mean time, we can get our economy back on track, and generate enough money to easily build power generating plants completely on our own without relying on international funding or bank loan. This offer can't get any better.
What would you do if you want to drink a coke? Would you buy it from a market or build your own factory? Same applies to power generation. In Europe, countries buy/sell their electricity and water to each other. Not only, they make money but it also brings countries closer.

you don't have any idea on Jinnah solar Park plan??
and in previous years a 600MW(?) solar power plant in Lahore??
Pakistan is working much on in conventional ways of power generation like solar power and wind power…
Wind power plant also had plant to double its output……:coffee:
