Russia offers co- production of passenger jets

^^
An civil aviation manufacturing plant can be set up and manufacturing can be done for whatever aircraft that gets the orders, even Indian firms can place some orders. This is cool, would be much better if a private player gets it rather than the lame NAL.

its time Russia takes buddy India onboard, otherwise Europeans will get it for 50% reinvestment

Perfect.

Win win situation for both of us.

More or less, because on the one hand Russian civillian aircrafts are not that liked on export markets, not even in the former Soviet Union countries and on the other hand, there are some early indigenous developments in this direction too.
Personally I like the idea of teaming up for Be 200, since our forces needs it and there are way less western competitors in the field of amphibious aircrafts, while the civil passanger aircraft market is comletely ruled by the giants Boeing and Airbus.

India is doing so many things these days...not sure where we are going to land up....already lot of things in pipeline in aviation sector with almost no concrete delivery visible in coming decade...We should prioritize our requirement and not just jump onto every proposal we get from any country....

Lets first complete the development of LCA and rollout the prod versions...
Resolve all o/s issues with Kaveri
Work with Russians on Pak-Fa
Work with Russians on MTA....

...Civilian aircraft jet project is not that imp than the above listed project...and if we sucessfully complet d above projects...we can have good amt of hands on exps to co-produce passenger jet with any country may its russia or europe or america...

Mate, India may have 500million strong working educated minds but how many of them are working for companies like NAL, HAL, DRDO etc....defence is regulated sector in India and the defence companies responsible to produce world class tech are bound to hire as per permitted cap....and on top of that .....they have to manage with the gift of independent India....30% for X., 20 % for y, 10% for z. and balance 40% only by academic records...it is okay if u dont ve brain..but u should score high in your academics..

Regarding, putting down congress...dear..do it if u can by shouting in defence forum...i ve no issues :-)

India will be a big market for Passengers jets in coming years.

Boeing values Indian aircraft market at $150 bn in 20 years

MUMBAI: With India's healthy GDP growth expected to stimulate a strong demand, Boeing on Thursday forecast a $150-billion market for 1,320 new passenger airplanes in the country over the next 20 years.

"Robust growth with new economic prosperity amongst a massive Indian population, discretionary incomes, business progress and access to airports will increase airplane demand. In 2011, the economy continues to do well.

Indian air carriers are becoming profitable and we expect the GDP to maintain its upward trend in the long-term. As a result, both the air travel and air cargo markets will grow," Boeing India president Dinesh Keskar said.

Keskar said the airline revenue and yields were up, but high inflation and volatile fuel prices will play a pivotal role in the health of the aviation industry.

"The economic and air traffic growth will in turn stimulate demand for a variety of aircraft. The need is for new airplanes that can efficiently and profitably fly short and long-haul routes.

This demand is driven by growth in developing and emerging cities, demand from low-cost carriers and the need to replace an aging fleet," he said.

The Asia's third largest economy will turn into a $150 billion market for passenger airplanes over the next 20 years, he maintained.

The biggest demand will be for single-aisle airplanes and the next generation Boeing 737 would fall in that category, Keskar stated.

"Boeing currently dominates India's long-haul international fleet, with 777s and 747s in service, and the 787 Dreamliner joining soon.

The Boeing 787 will offer significant economic improvement for airlines, increased comfort for passengers and better environmental performance," Keskar stated.

India's airlines have been growing rapidly by taking advantage of geography, demographics, technology and well-coordinated growth and investment plans.

Some carriers like state-run Air India are also looking for replacement of airplanes as they retire aging and less-efficient jets.

The US aircraft manufacturer has predicted that India-based airlines will also grow by responding to passenger preference for more flight choices, lower fares and direct access to a wider range of destinations.

MS-21 is the only good project..No need to go for old planes like Tu-204 ...

We need more people like Johnson Dsouza with an open and logical thinking mind, who understands that it doesn't matter how many people we have nor how many money we spent to make such developments successful. Things like experience and now how have to be developed through years or decades and can't be bought, just ask the Chinese why they need that much help from Russia, Israel or even go for JV with Europeans, although they spend waaay more than we do and have even more people.
The fact is, we have many developments going on right now, but only those with credible foreign participation are on a good way (Dhruv, Brahmos, Pak Fa/FGFA, Barak SAM), while developments like Kaveri engine, indigenous fighter radar, LCA in general, Saras, UAVs and even IJT facing several problems and delays.
I totally agree with him that we have to finish these developments first, before we start the next once and that we can use co-developments or JVs in the meantime, to earn more experience and know how!
