Previous reports suggested that the Strategic Missile Forces planned to conduct state tests of the fifth-generation automated control system by the end of the current year
MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. The testing of the advanced integrated automated tactical control system for the Russian Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) will be completed in 2015, Director of the Control Systems concern, member of the board of the United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation (UIMC - a Rostec subsidiary) Andrey Riznyk told TASS in an interview on Tuesday.
Previous reports suggested that the Strategic Missile Forces planned to conduct state tests of the fifth-generation automated control system by the end of the current year, which would make it possible to begin the troops’ equipping with elements of this system staring from 2016.
“In 2015 the tests will be completed - without doubt, this is first, and second, we expect to begin the RVSN equipment with new systems in 2016. The work will be tentatively continued until 2025, “Riznyk said.
According to him, the current RVSN control equipment will be 80% replaced by 2025.
Russian communication systems surpass Western analogues in functionality
He also said Russia’s automated control and communications systems are inferior to their Western analogues in design, but surpass them in functionality.
According to him, Russian products, including the nuclear deterrence forces’ tactical control systems are “at a very high level.”
“Our products not just keep up with the Western analogues, they surpass them,” Riznyk said.
According to him, the Russian products are larger in size and a little bit more “dated” in design, but their functionality is superior.
