I am now fed up with this..i am a fan of Rafale..but even now i think India should go with Su-30MKI...the necessary infrastructure is already present..but one question though, does India manufacture the whole plane or just assembles the kits sent by Russia?

If, rafale deal of india goes down ... it will push india back to russia for all their immidiate jets needs and iot will b the only viable option. because of the rafale deal, it has already closed the gap and reluctance between Pakistan and russia and both have established new and deep ties in new fields.
France could again offer arms like AIP submarines/missiles/new aircrafts and support to the older fleets to Pakistan in retaliation or else.
A deal is aleady in negotiations to directly import more advanced custom built varient of Russian jet engines RD-93 for the JF-17. It will improve the jet program and may lead to more Russian-made parts like more advanced raddars and technical support/help in developing of futur batches of jf-17 and supply of russian attack helicoptors.

This is not about commission.This is about economics.

economics..... if India can investing in Pakistani politics 12 billion rupies just to sabotaz the KALABAGH dam project since decads and some other water related projects. That is why i am sure, india will not kill the rafale deal fully any sooner and she will order for some jets to russia too. so no one can offer any thing to pakistan freely and openly.

If this deal is scrapped, Europeans will be reluctant to do defense deals with India. India did cancel helicopters deal before and now this.

They have huge gdp and resources.

When rafale is scrapped watch the Americans and Europeans come running with offers for their latest fighters ie f35 lightening typhoon and gripen ng.

The Russians will need to really sweeten the deal with early delivery of Fgfa or emergency supplies of su35

Hands down, Rafale is much superior to anything Russia produces. Rafale is a newer design too compared to Russian aircraft of today.

All Russian designs date back to end of Cold War era. This may not make a difference in many cases but it does give Rafale an edge.
