We are stupid for using gas to generate electricity. We should make the priority on every project solar, wind, tidal, wherever feasible.

I'm happy the pipeline is being built, I just hope we don't get complacent in the persuit of renewables. Energy independence is as important as nuclear weapons, water, the debt - more so even. Reducing reliance on fossil fuels would decouple us from relying on others for energy, would reduce imports significantly and long term would reduce cost of energy to businesses and domestic consumers and ultimately cost of products in the market.

It is a catalyst to success and something we must focus on.

These pipelines must be thought of short term solutions, medium term at most.

All new houses must have compulsory rule to have solar power installed.

Entire Sindh and 70 percent Balochistan and Punjab have strong sun for about 10 months and we are wasting that use.

Looking at this map is quite sad. In fact there should have been more pipes from Asiatic Russia coming south to Pakistan with oil, gas and tons of investment in steel, engineering, rail etc. Russia does these very well including construction. If you guys look how the Russian;s rebuilt Grzony after they destroyed it in 1999 you will know what I mean.

The problem is to get this level of intehration with where you pull entire Russian industries into Pakistan you need to export $10s billions to the Russians to have the economic pull.

Problem is how do you do that? Export few boxes of Pakistani kinows, few mangos or couple of leather jackets is not going to do it. But the potential is there. Look at this empty beach in Balochistan. Literally empty and miles of sun and sand.

All you would need to do is slice off few miles. Build a fence around it. Within it build a tourist resort. Hotels, restaurents, water sports. Vet and employ young Pakistani's to serve great Pakistani as well as world dishes. Have alcohol on sale. Built a airport for incoming tourists. Then go on a marketing spree in Siberian and Tran-Ural Russia. Cities and districts like Krosnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Yekatarinburg, Tomsk, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Perms etc. These places are freezing most of the year and the closest beaches are actually Arabian Sea coast of Pakistan. Just hour flight. Pakistan could be what Spain is to UK, Germany etc to Trans-Ural Russia.

All Pakistan would have to put up with is servicing millions of drunk Russians, cheap Russian whores with alcohol, sun, sex and kebabs. This would also attract Chinese and Eastern European tourists. I just realized this exactly what Sultan Erdogan has done with Antalya, Bodrum resorts in Turkey and the Turks earn oveer $60 billion - more than all of Pakistan's exports so idea is not orginal.

Although note Turkish beaches are rubbish. They tend to be rocky and full of shingles. The Baloch coast has better beaches and longer summer season thus would appeal to the northern climates of Russia.

Incidentally Trans-Ural Russia is where most of the oil, gas, steel and many of the hi-tec plants that make jet fighters and helicopters are based. All those billions of Russian tourist roubles could buy you into this Russian economy.

But we all know this can only happen in Turkey, Egypt, Jordan etc. Pakistan being a citadel of Islam and sin free this is not possible. Let's leave that to kaffir Turks!

We should involve Russia in the Iran-Pakistan as well as Pakistan-Tajikistan/Uzbekistan pipelines. As well as oil/lng/gas reprocessing refineries . There is a huge scope for joint Russian/Pakistan investment in energy, pipelines, ports, technology, manufacturing, and weaponry.

Russia has just as big economy as india but a much better cost of living and education rate. Russians is one of the highest countries in the world with college graduates per capita with 70% of the population. Russia+ Pakistan= 400+ million people

Agreed. Pakistan for a developing country is doing well in the pursuit for renewables.
Solar and tidal hold the greatest promise, and Pakistan is blessed with both.

At what cost? Imported panels with low output efficiency. Overall lifecycle cost and carbon footprint. Atleast right now in US, average kWh Cost to consumer is more for solar and wind than gas.

Plus initial investment isn’t affordable for most Pakistanis.
May be in future, when solar panel efficiencies hit 50% and Pakistan is able to locally produce them.
