RSS is not just antithetical to Muslims, but to a democratic-secular India as well
The Indian Constituent Assembly approved the Constitution on November 26, 1949. Four days later, RSS rejected it through an editorial in its English organ Organiser on November 30, 1949

JS Bandukwala, a renowned academician, thinker and fighter for communal harmony in India has rightly expressed his anguish on the deteriorating relationship between RSS and Indian Muslims which must be a cause of serious concern for all those who wish a happy and prosperous India (‘I forgive, I hope’, IE May 27, 2016). This aspect becomes enormously critical in a situation where RSS cadres are ruling India. I am afraid his take that RSS has problems with Muslims or vice versa is over-simplification of a far more serious issue. The future of Muslims or common Indians, 80.5% of whom are Hindus, depends on the survival of democratic-secular polity. It is more a critical issue for 135 million Muslims who according to the Professor “belong to the Dalit and backward classes”. A country where 5-6% population controls 65% of the national wealth, an egalitarian constitution only can provide hope to the poor whether Muslims or Hindus. Unfortunately, RSS is committed ideologically to undo it.

The Indian Constituent Assembly approved the Constitution on November 26, 1949. Four days later, RSS rejected it through an editorial in its English organ Organiser on November 30, 1949 which read: “But in our constitution there is no mention of the unique constitutional development in ancient Bharat. Manu’s Laws were written long before Lycurgus of Sparta or Solon of Persia. To this day his laws as enunciated in the Manusmriti excite the admiration of the world and elicit spontaneous obedience and conformity. But to our constitutional pundits that means nothing”. Mind it that ‘Manusmriti’ decrees sub-human status for Hindu women and lower castes.

RSS hated every symbol of democratic-secular Indian polity. Just on the eve of Independence when Indians were celebrating the newly freedom, the Organiser (August 14, 1947) denigrated the choice of our National Flag in the following words: “The people who have come to power by the kick of fate may give in our hands the Tricolour but it never be respected and owned by Hindus. The word three is in itself an evil, and a flag having three colours will certainly produce a very bad psychological effect and is injurious to a country.”

In the same issue, in an editorial (‘Whither’) RSS rejected the whole concept of secular state by arguing: “Let us no longer allow ourselves to be influenced by false notions of nationhood… in Hindusthan only the Hindus form the nation and the national structure must be built on that safe and sound foundation…the nation itself must be built up of Hindus, on Hindu traditions, culture, ideas and aspirations.”

The most prominent ideologue of the RSS, Guru Golwalkar was always allergic to democracy. As early as 1940, Golwalkar, while delivering a speech before the 1,350 top level cadres of the RSS at its headquarters, declared: “RSS inspired by one flag, one leader and one ideology is lighting the flame of Hindutva in each and every corner of this great land”.

It also must be noted that Indian Muslims, like Muslims of any other country, are not a monolithic whole. They are divided on class, caste and political lines. There are Muslims against RSS as there is large number of Hindus against RSS and there are pro-RSS/BJP Muslims like many Hindus. The animosity of RSS towards Muslims (of all classes and Castes) precedes long before Godhra/Gujarat 2000 carnage had happened. Both Savarkar (Hindutva 1923) and Golwalkar (We or Our Nationhood Defined 1935) had declared Muslims and Christians foreigners to be thrown out of the Hindu Nation and denied Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism as independent religions.

Even after Independence Muslims were suspects. The Bible of RSS cadres ‘Bunch of Thoughts’ (first edition 1966, chapter 16 titled ‘Internal Threats’) declared Muslims as threat number ONE and Christians as threat number TWO. Bandukwala’s wish is that “Muslims and the RSS move away from any negative feelings for the other”, but the onus is on RSS to abandon its anti-democratic secular Hindutva ideology in which citizens are be differentiated on the basis of religions they profess.

The well-meaning intellectuals like Bandukwala should not lose sight of the fact that Indian Muslims can survive in India when a democratic-secular polity survives. If democratic India does not survive, Muslims with other marginalised sections, most of them Hindus will be the main sufferer. The face-off is not between Muslims and RSS but Hindutva and Indian polity theoretically committed to egalitarianism.

No matter what we will also support them .
It was created due to our brothers behaviour in 1921 in Malabar .Something that they repeated like they did during Tipu invasion.
When favourable situation arise they will become religious bigot .You dont have to go anywhere .RSS is growing strongly in Kerala also and every years thousands of Sakhas is newly added in to that organisation.

.
Does the RSS go by the name of Hindu swayamsevak sangh (HSS) in USA and elsewhere outside india??

. . .
It's the liberal Nehru groupies who are antithetical to a democratic secular India. They believe only the Nehru Gandhi family has the right to rule India and demand for a Uniform Civil Code is an attack on Muslim personal law.

I do not understand. I just read the title. In a democracy, variable voices can be heard, should be heard. And that's the beauty of democracy. If the author wants RSS voice to be stopped, then what category does the author belong to?

In that sense, there are lots of Islamist organisation opposing UCC, as it will stop them from practising Shariah law? I mean, in a democratic country, why does one want to follow religious law? And Pentacostal groups as well. Let's ban everything and shall we call it "democracy"?

They think of themselves as intellects, but bigots of highest order. India is democracy, and it will carry voices of every religion from extreme right to extreme left, and that's the beauty of a open minded practising democracy.

You dont have to .
The bigot in your avatar ensuring our trust in RSS
No its actually your hate for diversity, Democracy, India's constitution and its symbols which ensures your love for RSS

Our country is an open minded practicing democracy because of its constitution and RSS is against the very same constitution as mentioned in the OP. Your views on it please

That's the essence of a democracy. There will be people and groups demanding or wishing they want something. RSS wants a Hindu Rastra, doesnt mean they are against the constitution. In that sense, even Communists are against our constitution. They are silent only cos they do not have the majority support.
Even Islamic organisation, wants Shariah law for themselves, and religious laws to rule for themselves, some wants such laws for the whole of India. They are free to demand such things through peaceful means as they wish.

I can start a party calling for a Stalinist kind of governance with every tenet against Indian Constitution. Who are you to stop me or the GoI for that matter? That is the essence of democracy. Voices for everyone.

I hope it answers ur question, and I request you to look at the cases with a broad view and not a narrower view.

I agree with your mentioned points but then again this very organisation and its affiliates labels other as anti-nationals just because they don't tow their view of "nationalism"

Why are we giving the fookin RSS so much lift? Almost every second thread on PDF is about the RSS! Jeeez!

Well RSS also states the following...

Make it a Hindu nation, says RSS chief

Looks like RSS seems to be in some kind of dilemma or may be lying low for now
