ISLAMABAD: Another colossal scandal of Rs 47 million in Pakistan Railways (PR) has been unearthed in a detailed report.

A report sent to the parliamentary committee revealed details of corrupt practices within PR and directed action against officials who were involved in it.

The report alleged that railways officers bought machinery worth Rs 5 million and caused great loss to the national exchequer.

Some corrupt officers of the department plundered Rs 3 million in the name of commercial activities and stalls on different railway stations in Multan Division.

The report added that sleepers of Khanewal factory bought substandard goods worth Rs 62 million.

Moreover, some officers of Rawalpindi Railway Station rented out 425 shops on the old agreement and sold diesel, which caused a loss of Rs 1.74 million to the national kitty.

The report revealed that PR had borne Rs 1.5 million loss owing to the operational shuttle train between Kuchlak and Sohrab. According to another report, PR has faced a loss worth Rs 5 million annually due to non-renewal of the agreement inked with Coca Cola in 2008 for setting up stalls in Sukkur region.

The report also stated that the company who runs the business train had refused to give Rs 47 million to PR. It also added that the said trains had been operational from Lahore to Karachi.

Will any actions be taken against the culprits? Going by history its more likely that they will be rewarded than punished.

Will Khwaja Saad Rafique resign over his mis-management, or will they blame this on Imran Khan as well?

Pakistan railways has done well hopefully we see brand new GM locomotives coming soon to enhance its operations

Decent effort , not stunning or 5 star effort but a great great improvement in operations

I am almost thinking along the lines we need "High Speed Anti Corruption' police who can Take action and decide on outcome in 1-2 weeks on cases from evidence collected with in that time frame.

Sorry buddy....your comment suggests that you are the one whos brain malfunctioned, hence nothing to comeback with. I suggest that in the future, if you don't have anything constructive to share, then better keep quiet instead of embarrassing yourself

sorry buddy I forgot how to make constructive posts, posts like "Tajurbekar team", my God this was so constructive I am wondering how you come up with these kinds of "Constructive Posts", please share your techniques with us un-constructive posters

Resign hahaa

Saad Rafique is as corrupt as they get. He is by far one of the biggest land mafias in Punjab, his entire Paragon Estate is built on qabza land especially from Railway.

Right now he has his eyes set on Royal Palm, prime real estate and lots of money to be made there.

If you could not understand the humour and the light jab behind that post, than i really agree you lack the basic comprehension skills and i suggest you go take an ESL class.

The comment of "Tajurbekar Team" rightly diminishes PML-N's claim of having the most competent economic managers. Short, Sweet and Simple. Instead of trolling, why don't you engage in an intellectual discourse regarding PML-N's economic corruption.

Rs 47 million.:sarcastic:
..this isn't even the tip of the iceberg
