It may sound like conspiracy to some but sane minds clearly analyze that from the beginning of modern history there is a destabiliser process of Islamic and muslim majority poulated countries in progress. Take examples of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and 80's of Turkey. They did it well, USA-led western hegamony will try anything in order to keep us "colonized" with an arguable term. How come the most of terrorist groups are Islamic origin, I don't want to attach it to any religious concept but isn't it just weird to you? That's why the secularism is the best way for a Muslim country to get rid of this modern times slavery related to religious concepts. With this way we will not let them to use religion card on the nations. That's why Turkey has the most resistant inner dynamics against outer effects. Secularism won't take your religion away from you, but will help you widen your world in order to catch the train of civilization. As long as people would respect this concept, Islamic world would run the globe by now.

However, religion is not their only weapon. If religion is not available, they will use ethnicity or language.

Just see what the West is doing with the PKK terrorists: they are laying the groundwork for years of trouble for Turkey.

You are right but religion is the most dangerous tool to use against that's why I said that Turkey is the most resistant one amoung Muslim countries. If we weren't a secular country probably we would be like Syria by now...

Generally speaking I would agree with you that religion can be very dangerous but would also mention that secular nationalism can also cause problems and at the end of the day each country including every Muslim country has its own dynamics. In the case of Turkey for example in the Ottoman era where religion was more emphasized, Turks and Kurds got along just fine. In fact Kurds even assisted the Turks when the Russians and Armenians began their campaigns and cleansings in the Caucauses and E. Anatolia. In the post secular Republic era however the Muslim bond between Kurds and Turks was broken and ethnocentricism became dominant. Whilst secularism no doubt worked great for Turks, In the context of Pakistan if the Islamic bond is broken we become a multitude of various ethnic groups (There are at least 6 six large ethnic groups in Pakistan) which will have implications on our national stability. That is why we in our context we need to find some balance in the middle between secularism and Islam. At the end of the day as said each country has its own dynamics and a model that worked on one Muslim country doesnt necessarily have to work on another.

Guys maybe you'd be surprised when you're going to hear this from me but, it's near time for us to leave NATO. Just one more decade to become 100% independent in the fields of defense industry&military. Then leave it.

Turkey is definitely the most advanced Muslim nation in the World and has the richest history of all. But in my opinion, a true "Muslim Power" would be that one who would maintain a balance of power in the Middle East which is currently in favor of Israel by far. Turkey surely has the ability to do that but I'm not sure how much eager they are for that accomplishment since, after all, national interest comes first which is ensured by their alliance within NATO. On the other hand, Iran is gradually approaching to tilt the balance of power in the Middle East which also coincides with their national interest. However, we can't say how the geopolitics would play in future.
