ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested ‘imam masjid’ (prayer leader in the mosque), Khalid Jadoon, accused of manipulating evidence against Rimsha Maseeh, who has been in detention after she was allegedly found holding burnt pages with holy verses printed on them, Geo News reported.

Earlier an eyewitness, in his statement before the magistrate on Saturday, said taht Khalid Jadoon rigged the evidence against Rimsha Maseeh. .

According to Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, the eyewitness, he was observing Itekaf in the mosque when he learnt about the incident of alleged burning of pages with Quranic verses printed on them.

He said that Ammad, the complainant in the case, handed over the ashes of pages with Quranic verses on them to the Imam of the mosque Khalid Jadoon, who also added more pages to it.

The eyewitness further said in his statement that he himself along with two more Itekaf observers protested against this brazen act of fudging the evidence against the poor girl. He said that he and other eyewitnesses had asked Khalid Jadoon to present the real evidences against Rimsha.

Meanwhile, the religious scholar Tahir Ashrafi has asked the Ulema as to what kind of punishment Imams like Khalid Jadoon deserved.

A clear example of how some morons in Pakistan are misusing the blasphemy law for their own vested interests and agenda. Unfortunately the nature of this law is itself so prone to abuse. I hope Pakistan is able to repeal this law soon and replace it with a more benign legislation on blasphemy...

If it is found that the girl is Mentally Retarded and this man also altered the proofs than kill this man in public so no else dares to falsely accuse some one of blashmey

If all this is true,altnough yet to be proved..it will be rather shameful...
Normally a scholar wont create such a big case when a child is involved...I dont think he is a qualified scholor,if he was,he would have talked to the girl,asked her not to do it again,and had asked her parents to teach manners to tneir daughter,and that would have been it.
The trouble is with our people..you wont give a job to a person without verifying which institution he studied from,and if he has a degree,and passed with good grades or not..
But when recruiting masjid imam,the inherent illiteracy of masjid committe comes in the way...
People dont know which madrissah is good,which is mediocre and which is bad...same as colleges or universities...some teach very well,and have stringent procedures for granting certigication,and exams are tough..
Others are lenient and the bad ones will give certificates to just about any of their students even without exams.....and its these graduates who cause problems,as they themselves know nothing..

1. Did it unintentionally
2. Is a minor.
