Retracing my Indian ancestral roots

Months ago. Not today. Not on this thread. Not on this topic.

You are needlessly bringing me into this, due to your inferiorty complex and identity crisis right now.

I made a little list of people I know show racialist tendencies on this forum for him. I had a third name but left him out because he talks rationally.

Bro I have no identity crisis. I have, like everyone else, a composite identity. But if you were to thin it down to one identity, that won't be Pakistani.

Unfortunately, I am probably one of those very few Mohajirs that has family left in India, because my mom's family did not migrate to Pakistan in 1947 (but my dad's did), & my mom was born & raised in India (but later moved to Pakistan to marry my Dad, & surrendered her Indian citizenship). Most Mohajirs that migrated to Pakistan had their entire families migrate to Pakistan.

Thats not true. Most Urdu speaking Mohajirs I've talked to still have some relatives left in India. Thats one of the reasons why Urdu speaking Mohajirs still have affection for India.

I am so glad my relatives were always in Pak Sarzameen :pakistan:

Paraphrasing what Allah tells us "I've given you your deen, now go understand it and practice it". The 'understand it' part has all but vanished in these times, and when you talk with Mr. darkinsky, please understand you're talking to a kid and he nor me are really capable of making absolute statements. Now the thing is, the scientific method is one of the bases of the sciences of ahadiith/sharii3ah/sarf u nahw etc. So no we cannot discard science, especially given that the religion makes use of it in order to evolve.

OK this was a digression and I too don't want to derail the thread.

Thanks for the clarification.

that maybe true, but they dont have any contacts with their indian ones, only few have contacts, because the relatives they have are only linked to their forefathers and not immediate family members, most of them are punjabis who have relatives on both sides of the border because it was mainly punjab who got divided between india and pakistan, muhajirs who came, migrated with all the immediate relatives they had who were willing to make their pakistan, a new home and in this process lost all contacts they had of their far relatives who didnt shared same view of migration

many urdu speakers have indian muslim wives, like 2 of my american uncles have indian wives, and one of my cousin has indian wife and they were not in any way related before

bwahahahahahahhahaha NO i wont because i have no roots not even distant ones in bharat and this thread is more aimed at finding roots in bharat one way or the other.

for finding my kalewaal i have to travel to Afghanistan to Persia to land of the Prophet :) long journey

Same here sister. Not a drop of bharati in me. Alhamdulillah.

My blood is pure green and white :pakistan:

Punjabi Pakistanis have no relatives back in India. The Punjabi Muslims who migrated from Indian Punjab to Pakistan Punjab all came together, and many were killed and raped on the way by hindus/sikhs. The only Punjabi Muslims left in Indian Punjab are in a small city where the sikh people's guru told his followers not to hurt the Muslims, and they are mostly Ahmadiyyas not even real Muslims. Everywhere else in Indian Punjab, Muslims were not spared. No Pakistani Punjabi has a relative back in India, its only Urdu speaking Mohajirs who have relatives back in India.

The way you non Mohajir are at it, it appears that it is a sin to be a Mohajir.

Have a heart.

Jinnah was a Mohajir and so were all the brilliant men.

Check the intellects of Pakistan, they are all Mohajirs!

It worked the other way as well. The Sikh and Hindu Punjabis in Pakistan were slaughtered and raped as well. It wasn't a one sided massacre. It was a terrible thing to have happened either way and I wish the partition hadn't been so bloody.

punjab in pakistan also shares many hindu culture like jashan e baharan and basant, kite flying when many people die because of eccidents that occur, we dont have hindu traditions in karachi

Don't pay any attention to them, they do not even realize that people of Persian or whatever descent, that there might be, would also be classified as "Mohajirs".

Even Pashtuns, Punjabi's etc are Mohajirs as they had to migrate.

The point is Punjabi Muslims are almost non-existent in Indian Punjab anymore, while in other parts of India like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar (where most of these Urdu speaking Mohajirs came from) there is still a large Muslim population so they will still relatives back in India while we Punjabi Pakistanis have no relatives in India and want nothing to do with India.

Thanks.

I think you are very balanced in your views and you do get to the reality of issue without any baggage hindering your clear insight.

Punjab and Punjabi's are heavily influenced by Hindu customs and rituals, the rest of the ethnicities are more focused upon their age old customs that have remained constant.

Pakistan Punjab has 99% Muslim population while India Punjab has 1% Muslim population. I dont know about you, but I dont have a single Hindu or a Sikh in my family. We have no relatives back in India. While Uttar Pradesh and Bihar still has plenty of Muslims, these places in India are where most of you urdu speaking Mohajirs came from.
