Repeated Failure of HUD & Cockpit Display Blank off of SU-30 MKI...!!!

So Russian were at NO STAGE involved in assisting integration? or providing blueprints? or even just helping QC?
They just gave HAL the metal shell and all the fitting was done in house?
If that is all true.. why involve the Russians in the Super-30 upgrade at all? You can do it all in house..

The mission computer may be Indian but it is integrated to Russian systems that may be causing the processor to fail.
Remember the mission computer and avionics need power that can only be supplied by the engine or axillary power systems that are without a doubt Russian.

As of today, Russia does not even provide the metal shell. It is manufactured at HAL. Yes, some components still come from Russia, and 100 percent indegenization has not yet been achieved. But most of the manufacturing, and all of the assembling and integrating is done in India, so as of now there is no reason to go to Russia when an Indian component malfunctions.

As for super-30 - We need Russian technology, that we are not capable of developing just yet. We cannot make an AESA version of the NIIP-BARS for example. We are nowhere near the level needed to develop the sort of technologies we are looking for on the super-30. But integrating and assembling, and even manufacturing the MKIs - we are doing so now, and have been for a few years.
Hence, there was Russian involvement in the past.. and they assist throughout. So quite likely, the Russians were asked for help in this as well. Israel has the source codes for the F-16.. but it still goes back to Lockheed martin in case a problem pops up it cannot solve.

Morover, the serials 10-i and 11-i might mean aircraft within that period. Was it not that the examples in 2010 come with the Indian built displays and huds. Perhaps there was some problem regarding Russian backend not interfacing properly and Samtel telling HAL its got its problems check out. So the ball may be in the Russian court.

What are the 10-i and 11-i configurations? And when did this problem suddenly emerge?Coz indian has been using sukhois for over a decade now?Any inside news ?
Software configurations? Hardware configurations?

10 i and 11 i are two serial production aircraft manfatured by hal nasik facilities but post its self false bec hud and mfd of mki is manufacured by indiann based firm so its a troll post:p:p:p:p:p
Two serial production aircraft are called configuration??

Any further off topic post by Indians will be shot down and members banned. I need intelligent replies not wet cats.

Really.. show those and Ill consider. There are no double standards at play other than from Indian members.

What does this mean??off topic post by members of other nationalities are allowed?Indians are expressing their doubts about a news for which OP haven't even provided a source. And Go to page 2 of this thread if you want to see ''off topic posts''.And guess who made it.

It is not clear if the display problems referred to by HAL are in reference to the SU-30s imported from Russia or the later ones which were licence-manufactured by HAL with the display systems and other electronics sourced from international vendors.

The tandem glass cockpit of the Su-30MKI accommodates two pilots. The forward cockpit is equipped with an integrated avionics suite with the Elbit Su 967 head-up display (HUD), seven active-matrix liquid crystal displays (AMLCD) and primary cockpit instrumentation from Thales. The HAL-built aircraft are equipped with multifunction displays (MFD) supplied by Samtel Display Systems.

Did everyone miss this point?

Those have been dealt with. OP has.. no one bothered to let their heads slow down from reactionary bullshit to even look at it. It all over the news now.

Russians were heavily involved in the upgrade process.

Indian Sukhoi 30 MKIs Suffering Multifunctional Display Failures; India Complains To Russia

Sukhoi 30 suffering cockpit display problems?

India’s fleet of Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft are suffering multiple failures of its cockpit display system, if leaked documents are to be believed.

According to a communiqué between HAL and Irkut Corp dated 28 February 2014, the MC-1 or Mission Computer 1 and the head-up display (HUD) of the Su-30MKI has recorded “multiple cases of repeated failure”.

HAL, in its letter, says all head-up displays and multi-functional displays on the Russian fighter repeatedly “blanked-off” and that it has reached out to the Russians including Vladimir Lagutkin, Dy. Chief of Division, Rosoboronexport and V A Borodich, Senior VP of Military Aviation Project at Irkut Corp as well as O D Pankov, Chief Designer at the Sukhoi Design Bureau for remedial measures.

The letter also states that HAL had reached out to the Russian side on at least two occasions in March and April ’13 but had received no response in return.

Which probably means they were also quite involved in avionics integration and testing on the MKI.

Yes. avionics, Munitions and Surveillance and targeting equipment.. But this is entire issue is being blown out of proportions, Most likely cause is comm-loss diagnostic...Char ana ki murgi aath ane ka masala

But the letter makes it sound like a big thing. Losing the HUD and MFDs cant be a nice experience for pilot.. even thought the MKI retains analog instruments...

As such though, its not the Mission computer glitch that caught my eye.. but rather this

Also gives in indication that MKIs are up for general overhaul.. Im not sure what the IAF classifies as a general overhaul.. as each airforce has different definitions for the term.

Imo- MLG repair and over haul, engine replacement, Hydraulic cylinder valve and bushing change with LVDT calibrations.

Software Upgrade Solves IAF Su-30MKI’s Display Problem.

A software upgrade has solved the Indian Air Force Su-30MKI’s cockpit displays and head up display (HUD) blanking off problem. Besides, a failure of the mission computer has been addressed to by replacing the faulty computer wherever necessary.

The display blanking off and mission computer failure had caused a furore in the media earlier this year after hackers released correspondence between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Rosorobonexport, in which the latter had complained of this serious issue dogging Indian Air Force’s front line fighter aircraft.

HAL chairman, R K Tyagi has been quoted as saying that the display issue afflicted only a limited number of the earliest batch of Su-30 aircraft which had been imported from Russia. “Very few aircraft reported the issue of mission computer failure and HUD blanking-off”, Tyagi has been quoted in Deccan Herald newspaper.

He clarified that the issue was intermittent in nature and related to aircraft having an older software version.
