Renewable Energy in Turkey

I don't know where should i post.Turkey does nothing about gas in Mediterranean ....I swear Turkey will regret for what will happen in near future. They are doing nothing just talking shit.. F.ck the foreign policy of turkey ...Just focusing in syria ?!!! or the ottoman dream ?!!....As i said before Turkish energy minister is very unsuccessful...
What happening now ?? Egypt is trying to make a deal with all Mediterranean countries to get their gas and create huge hub and sell Liquefied gas to EU !!
This was one of the turkish target ! What turkey did ? nothing.just a bad relation with egypt, isreal, syria and cyprus. !
u have overestimate the Mediterranean gas reserve how much they gonna produce ?? how much is gonna cost ?? how much its need investment ?? ,Turkmenistan can produce all the Mediterranean reserve yearly we have 50 trillion cubic meter gas reserve our gas reserve is great and our price is low imagine it with Azerbaijan Uzbekistan and Kazantzakis combine ?? so its not of as emergency importance as you pictured

You are right, we don't need Iran, Qatar, Saudi gas. We don't even need gas from Mediterranian, if we keep blocking southern cyprus governate to violate TRNC's rights consistently, this will be enough.

Turkmen gas is enough to secure Turkish energy needs for century, but we will eventually stop using fossil fuels at some points, and adopt fully electricity in warming/climate systems/industry/transportation etc.

so do we both turkey and Turkmenistan has a excellent potential for wind solar weave energy , but he was saying Egypt will threat turkey's positions as a energy hub which i correct him how much he was wrong

As long as Turkish government willing to use it's Navy to control that region, Egypt or any other regional power cannot enforce control over TRNC's economic zone.

Man you should have more than one source when you import gas !! gas=politics.. If you want turkey to be strong you should control the gas of east asia and middle east. Turkey has a distinct geographic location that can be a hub of Liquefied gas

Renewables make up 32 pct of power generation
DAILY SABAH
The share of renewable energy, which serves as one of the most important pillars of the National Energy and Mine Policy and led by hydro, wind and solar energy, reached 32 percent in the third quarter of 2017, surpassing the target of 30 percent that was set for 2023. One of the important pillars of the National Energy and Mine Policy initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources to reduce external dependence on energy is renewable energy sources.

Turkey plans world’s biggest offshore wind farm, announces new tenders
Thursday, Mar 01, 2018

Turkey is planning to develop the world’s biggest offshore wind plant, the country’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak has announced.

The scheme was proposed during the Forum of Energy and Mines conference on February 22. Albayrak gave no details of the project, other than to say that his ministry was currently working on the details and intended to issue a tender for the project this summer. The capacity would be built under Turkey’s Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) framework.

Possible sites for such a plant include the Sea of Marmara, much of which is comparatively shallow, and the country’s southwestern coast, which is already home to 24 onshore wind plants totalling 904 MW.

Other possible locations might be in the shallow offshore regions on Turkey’s Aegean coast. Although conditions and water depths may be well-suited, this may prove to be more a more difficult political proposition. Turkey and Greece have long been in dispute over the demarcation of their respective territorial waters and Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs) in the region.

Nevertheless, pro-government Turkish newspaper the Daily Sabah reported that the site “will be established” in the Aegean.

At present, the largest operational offshore wind farm in the world is the UK’s 630-MW London Array. This will be superseded in 2020 with the scheduled completion of Ørsted’s 1.2-GW Hornsea One project, which is currently under construction. Turkey will need to aim for something at least this large to secure its promised pole position.

Albayrak also announced future plans for a tender for grid-scale battery storage for use by Turkey’s solar power generators, but again gave no details beyond the suggestion that a tender would be held later in the year.

Separately he announced firmer plans for two new grid access tenders for 1 GW each of new onshore wind and solar plants, which will be held sometime in the summer.

As with previous grid access tenders held by state grid operator TEIAS, bidding will be for grid access slots of specified capacity, and will be awarded on the basis of what discount operators can offer on Turkey’s guaranteed feed-in tariffs (FiTs) of US$0.073 per kWh for wind and US$0.133 per kWh for solar power.

As before, winning bidders will also receive a pre-licence for their project which guarantees the issuing of a full generating licence once they can demonstrate financial closure for the project.

Albayrak added that the ministry would look to regulate the installation of rooftop solar systems in future too, and expand installed capacity.

The new tenders are the latest steps in Turkey’s long-term energy policy, which see it diversifying away from imported natural gas for power generation in favour of domestic resources, in particular renewables.

According to TEIAS data, at the end of last year Turkish wind capacity amounted to 6,517 MW, up 13.3% on the year, while solar capacity reached 3,420 MW, up 311% on the year, with a further 416 MW of solar plants holding preliminary licences.

In December TEIAS held three grid access tenders for new wind projects, which allocated slots and licences for 2,800 MW of new capacity.

Finally! I was hoping and waiting for this kind of news for a few years now.

Solar power climbs up so rapidly. I see it above wind enery for the first time in 6/4/18. (but due to relatively low wind energy production)

I think in summer days, we can see %7-8 for this year.

PV covered up to 7% of Turkeys energy needs on sunday for a couple of hours. And its not even summer.

We have reached a new record high:

A major solar boom is happening in Turkey right now. Investors, the government and ordinary people have realized that solar energy is a key element to reach our renewable energy targets. It's cheap and it's easy to put up.

Turkey registers another 648 MW of unlicensed PV capacity in March
Since the beginning of 2018, newly registered unlicensed solar up to 1 MW has reached over 1.1 GW, while total cumulative capacity has topped 4.59 GW.

Do you guys have any info about what is the price of one solar panel and how many are enough to meet the electricity needs of a family?
In many parts of Turkey the sun shines bright for more than 80% of the year so solar panels can be a very useful thing for many households. If more homes are nicely isolated and more energy efficient we can decrease our energy imports maybe not by very much but still enough to save some money in the long run.

This is really a huge number. But as stated in the source news, it shows just registered capacity. We can't know how much of this registration is installed. But still impressive! If we continue at this rate and install all registered capacity, just in a year we will installed a PV capacity which equals to 2 Atatürk Dam!
