Red Mosque Cleric Abdul Aziz warns of 'bloody revolution'

We really need to make instigation of violence a severely punishable crime, and if the law already exists, implement it and throw these bastards in jail.

No doubt these hard line claric were feeded and gromed during one miltery dictator but they have right to critise government as every citizen has right.

Extremisim can not be eliminated by use force , best way is to nuetralize them through use of counter ideaology and by strengthen the law of state through parliment .

I think there might be political considerations behind his release and freedom. A lot of Pakistanis still feel that he is some kind of hero forced into that situation ‘by the Army’ and a lot of religious parties (Imran Khan included probably) are still given to rant on his ‘unjust’ detention. Many of these people still feel that the Army massacred girls and what not, so the SC/PPP might just be trying to take the easy way out by not aggressively looking for evidence (which is already our weak point) against this guy. Prosecuting someone over instigating violence agaisnt the state can be tricky with fears of a political confrontation or controversy, and the Red Mosque is still very much a controversial issue in Pakistan.

I will not blame whole army for lal mosque wrong action in which many innocient lives lost ,which can be saved.A small group in army made these hard line claric hero by killing them .

I think first of all they should not be allowed to creat mess in the heart of capital and then musharaf regime planned a drama to please the bush regime to score few more points, lal mosque problem can be solved through politics and mediations.

Any how we should learn leasson from mistakes .

Yes, this is the ideal way. But what would a government do if some of its citizen start an armed insurgency or emotionalize people for such activities that cause law and order situation? No government neutralize the criminals, and these traitors bringing up a fitna in a peaceful society which is the worst of crime.

Yes, counter ideology is necessary but every body knows how much powerful is our educational system to do this task. Or you have some way other than education? We havn't succeeded in deciding that ours is an Islamic country or a secular one in more than sixty years. This is the plight of our ideology. It is my personal experience that almost all the clerics divide education in two major categories a) Deeni, B) Dunyaawi. They consider themselves doing deeni actions, whatever they do, and all others are considered dunyaawi by them. So who will counter a Deeni ideology? while this categorization itself is non Islamic? Make educational syllabus identical for all the Pakistanis and then hope for a counter ideology for these ignorant Mullahs. They have become so much powerful socio-economically that some times I think that there should be a research named "Mullah Inc." to discover how much assets they have in Pakistan. They haven't been audited since our independence. How much more free hand, or civil rights, they want from our society? and issue takfeeri fatwas in return?

A peaceful and immediate solution may be that, at least Mullahs serving in Government mosques (like Lal Masjid), should be bound to only give an aproved khutba and they should be stopped for giving any political statement. Other wise they must be transferred if found disobeying the government and then terminated from their service and banned for delivering any speech. Jail may be the last option.

If G M Syed, Ghafar Khan, Wali Khan can be put into jail why not these real traitors?

The imam of Pakistan’s Red Mosque, Maulana Abdul-Aziz, and his wife were stopped at the Jeddah airport in Saudi Arabia on May 24, AAJ TV reported. Authorities told the couple their tickets to Pakistan had been cancelled.

Interesting news brief. I wonder what this scumbag was doing in Saudi - my guess is probably paying a visit to his saudi wahhabi masters, collecting his paycheck, and getting instructions for instigating further mischief - sure enough we hear of his 'bloody revolution' sermon this past friday.

Will no one rid us of this wahhabi son of a *****?

The Islamist insurgency in Pakistan is entering a new phase, the creation of a political arm in preparation for "negotiating" with the government. We have now had, in rapid succession, after the Saudi Arabian Ambassador's call for negotiations with Ulema in the framewrok of a jirga, the publication of Imran Khan, Qazi Hussein Ahmad and now the mad Mullah Aziz's diatribes against Muslims and Pakistan.

The Federal governement has said publically that it will not negotiate with the Islamists, now the islamist insurgency must create circumstances that will bring political pressure on the federal governement to do what it promised not to do.

Pakistan have a window available to it for conducting operations against the Islamist insurgency, but this window is closing fast; Imran, Qazi and this Mad mullah Aziz would not have been heard from unless a determination had been made that whatever consensus had been arrived at in Pakistani society against Islamist insurgency, is now vulnerable - you will note the cessation of suicide bomb attacks in the Punjab -- attacks on Islamabad, Peshawar and to some extent karachi, will be on, as will attacks against govt employees and PPP/ANP politicians --- I give you a gaurantee, no attacks on Nawaz - you decide for your selves what that means -

An operation the army had begun 4 weeks ago, the operation in Waziristan, died a premature death, it took a single ambush, a repeat performance in which elements of the Fauj, whether through collusion or incompetence, created a crack in the wall of confidence civil society though they were secure behind, it has taken the American Drones to answer the Islamist ambush of the Fauj, and in the meantime US and UK forces combat Talib in Helmand, the lack of operations against the Islamist insurgency in Waziristan has not gone unnoticed.

Not trying to judge the rightness of the speech, but would that claim work legally ?

Isn't the statement borderline sedition/threatening to wage war against the nation ? That would be a crime if Pak constitution is based on the British one like India's is.

I agree it might be legitimate criticism / "free speech" but the tone seems (arguably) aggressive.

What crime did Abdul Aziz commit......did he kill someone while he was in lal masjid?

If anything the people involved in the lal masjid massacre should be put before a court and hung.

Problem is our national policies always developed and dictated by external forces, our poltical parties are actually divided into two groups pro Saudi and pro American.

Our Fuaj dont have free hand at all due weak and corrupt political leadership.

Presently there is back door diplomacy continued with talaban and US and NATO already not functioning in battle fields.

Pak Fauj intenally also have groups supported by two major parties , in this senario the sucess rate in FATA is very low .

In SWAT danger is still there , talaban can again try to re capture the SWAT .

We need national government to regain our national poltical strength then we could only fight with terrorism and extremisim.

Only solution is national government and free and fair trail .

Who will form this government, how will it be formed? Who will get how much share in it? Not an easy task. But one thing is obvious, Fazllur Rehman will be an integral part of it. Are you agree with such a national government having all the big guns responsible for all this crisis?

The present govt is not ideal and may faults - but it is democractically elected govt -- we don't need political show or tamasha, we need determination to kill the islamist insurgency.

this guy needs to be shot dead just like his father and his brother were. these vermin need to be wiped out and there children sterilized to save pakistan from there savagery

One thing is clear that Pakistani people, et large, don't want these Mullahs to stupefy them any more. Especially the Sawat operation has been a blessing in disguise in this sense. So, we should hope that government can handle this situation in the right manner and in a right time, as in the case of Sawat.
