US Defense Companies Are Struggling To Compete Against China's Weapons Low Prices | ASIAN DEFENCE NEWS
China's HQ-9 Missiles

Chinese nation has used their past advancements that took Western nations and USA decades to perfect — and it's now looking to turn a return on all that work.

Turkey announced the race to equip it with a long-range missile system is well underway and China's already sent their bid while USA and western countries are struggling to compete against China’s Weapons low prices.
Europe, Russia, the U.S. and China are all competing for the $4 billion dollar defense deal and Beijing's Precision Machinery HQ-9 is the lowest competing bid so far.

The surprising thing is that china offer came in at $1 billion less than expected, after Beijing tried to cut the original estimate by half.

USA Company Raytheon was forced to revise its offer to stay in the competition, but officials there won't comment on just how much dollars the US bid is until the contract is selected next month.

In the end it may not matter if China loses money on the deal if the fears of some experts are proven correct, and it attains access to NATO ‘s classified data.

Some believe that Russian and Chinese systems are incompatible with NATO systems and that with a successful bid, either of those countries would achieve access to classified NATO information.

Turkey has declined to eliminate either China or Russia despite the fact that, it could, compromise NATO's entire "set of procedures."

This is getting better and better thanx to the chinese. I have been wondering for a while now, Does anybody know what they ment with 50% Local input? Does it mean 50% Turkish technology Contribution or simply producing the parts locally for better understanding of building and developing Long Range air defence systems?

Production of launchers probably perhaps also radar?

The array system, guidence, FFI, communications. These are extremely different from each other when we compare nato and Rusky/Chinese system. So nato is right to be afraid of see it's classified data compromised. What matters is neither domestic or foreign; we urgently need an air defence system. I'd go with Aster missiles. They're new and good. PAC-3's are also good but they're getting old unless they will when they come to Turkey.

As people say about weapons,

If you have money, buy European.

If you don't have money, buy Chinese.

If you're going to war, buy American.

And if you're sanctioned, buy Russian.

People always say something..
We have money, not sanctioned and no war on horizon at least in the near future but this is middle-east who knows.. Who brings good price with ToT he takes the trophy.. That simple..

We should go for the ARROW-3,but at the moment not possible.

Maybe Turkey needs now the BMC 8x8 :)

Ignore another jealous Indian who likes to play down China's success.

It must pain for them to be so much less successful than China in every field.

They would rather try to pull China down than try to pull themselves up.

^^^ Really Indians need to stop this constant China bashing and ask how they can try to emulate China.

It would uplift their country for the better.

While China may not be perfect, it is a model country for 3rd world countries to try to emulate.

Only 30 years ago it was no richer than BD and India, just look at it now - an utterly amazing transformation and it's economy is still performing miles better than India or BD.

Hmm...I believe that in order for the HQ-9 systems to be fully compatible with NATO systems, they may require some modifications on those HQ-9's. Often costly mods.

It is so true.

When China first became a country in 1949, India was richer than China in terms of GDP per capita.
And in 1980, China and India were on par.
Now China is in a total different category all together.

that's right but;

1- China uses open technology while NATO uses classified tech. Which I think nato products are better.

2- after these modifications China wouldn't have to worry about his tech revealed. But NATO will have bigger problems than Afghanistan if it's gonna happen. Dozens of countries are after this technology since the cold war.

^^ You are talking shlt. What does open technology is inferior than classified tech.?

What is open tech? And what is classified tech any way?

Are you saying China doesn't have its classified tech? Whatever classfied tech mean?

You are full of shlt.

DO NOT OCCUR PERSONAL ATTACKS ON ANY MEMBER

yeah, is that why NATO still owns this planet since 1949 ?

Ignore my fellow Canadian post, he would not be saying something like that had he served a day in boot because some civilian not all do not understand the importance of Classified systems and others in that category to our NATO capabilities/doctrine and assuming the same holds true for Turkey as per NATO standard. This acquisition in my opinion though some turkie members may disagree is simply to get a better deal by using chinois as a ploy because majority of Turkish acquisition is either indigenous(NATO standard) or acquired through joint-venture or purchase from a fellow NATO member.

(not attempting to be offensive armchair but you need to seriously read up).

Also I apologize about the comment of my fellow Canadienne member up there, we all do not communicate in the same way and he was out of line clearly and mods please delete his post as the post is derogatory in nature, merci.)
