What's new

Rashid Minhas martyrdom anniversary today

Plz stop fighting everyone. Remember we were one country once. All of us shed blood for Pakistan in '47 together Our blood was shed in Calcutta and other places in Bengal on the day of Direct Action We struggled a lot

Secession of Mashriq Pakistan was disaster The border should have been sealed in '70 itself before the Muktis entered from the other side of the border. That wasn't done so no point blaming each other We allowed foreign manipulation in our internal affairs in '71 and paid the price

And before giving gaali to Bangladeshis, remember that for every gaddar mashriqi Pakistani out there you would find at least 10 Bengalees who shed their blood for Pakistan under the most hostile circumstances and have now either been kicked out of the country or being hanged So remember them before giving gaali

This is an excellant post. I cant thank you enough for the sentiments expressed. The rebuilding of bridges requires both sides to accept mistakes were committed. God knows the Western part of pakistan is not blameless in this eiither. People need to learn that the fall of East Pakistan di not happen overnight. There is a history of neglect and degradation of people of Bengal, along with stealing of resources from East Pakistan. Another factor that was never checked was that the majority of teachers at primary and intermediate levels in bengal were Hindus who did a lot of damage to the young mindss and it was sheer neglect on the part of the establishment to not have curtailed the trend.
So there are multiple factors leading to the fall of bengal and both parties are involved. What the Indians did was take what was presented to them on a silver platter with icing on top.

Actually we all got manipulated by politics. Hell was let loose. May God soothe all those who suffered and their families. And personally I think Bangladesh was very far off, it could have been made a seperate country in the very beginning, if someone knew this could happen. It shared no border with us and actually shared borders with the hostile state.
True! we could have formed a loose confederation but the Western Pakistani establishment never thought beyond their noses and were caught with their pants down.

A traitor is just that ---- A traitor. He is a criminal without any nationality. iF YOU BRING IN NATIONALITY YOU WILL BRING IN PEOPLE WHO WILL CONSIDER HIM A HERO!!! So let it remain a crime commited by a traitor rather than this or that nationality followed by Traitor.

I wish Your Govt also had feeling like you

Looking matter from United pakistan prospective Rashid Minhas did the write thing. It was act of heroism and deserve highest honor.

I was'nt around at that time but i think East pakistan origin solders revolted because they were grounded and were not involved to defused the matter in East Pakistan. They may have done it out of anger and humiliation. Perhaps @asad71 and other professionals from that time can confirm for us.

core of the Mukti Bahini military leadership were Bengalis in Pakistani army/paramilitary
to the degree Bengali personnel stationed in West Pakistan were helpless

it does not help that Operation Searchlight was conducted in the way it was

Bir Shreshta Matiur Rahman was true and honest to his motherland (which is Bangladesh), Rashid Minhas was honest to his motherland (Pakistan)... They both did what any valiant patriotic soilder would do.

I prayed it once for the Shaheed , and hopefully others would take a moment of silence and at least offer 1 prayer (those who are local/Muslim , as we normally recite this prayer. On his behalf.

This is the least we can do to show our gratitude

Of course the bravery of the Man will always be remembered

And humble prayer to reduce the differences between people so they would understand each other better.

1.Soldier's life can be strange. At this instant both Mati and Minhas did what they thought was right. The valor of both has been recognized by highest awards - Nishan e Haider and Bir Shreshtho.
2. Let us rest this story here - please.
