. . . .
The year 1971 was the worst in Pakistans history and it was because we severely mistreated our own people which was a vast majority. Yahya Khan, Niazi, Tikka Khan and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for me are the most hated leaders of the country. Just so that he could stay in power Bhutto sacrificed half the country. He also threatened to break the legs of Bengalis who voted. Many will claim it was RAW but RAW only used a situation created by us.

I think we should remember that in 1945 we proposed a very similar deal. We Muslims of the subcontinent said that we would stay in a united India if we were given the right to self governance for muslim majority provinces and were treated fairly, in fact by our own rules and regulations. It was exactly the same thing the Bengalis wanted in 1971. It was simply a matter of giving a small concession and our country would have remained united. Unfortunately we played right into the hands of RAW.

It is my dream that Bengal and Pakistan become one again. My heart weeps that a land that was with us during Jinnah's time is now so out of our grasp that no one is even thinking in Bengal to be with us. Such a horrible crime we have committed against people I still, to this day consider fellow Pakistanis.

I wish to apologize to our Bengali brothers. For the killings the brutality and the power-hunger of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The break up of Pakistan was a division of our blood as all Muslims of South Asia once aspired together for their goal of independence from India.

@Armstrong: Taali eik haath say bajji thee..... one was our hand and the other side was face of ordinary bengalis........ look at the figure below.

Just go through Brian Cloughely's book on the Pakistan Army to see for yourself how the British virtually stopped recruitment from Bengal after the 1857 Mutiny and amongst the Muslims tilted it heavily in favor of the Punjabis & Pukhtoons. I don't have the book with me right now so I can't quote the exact figures but at the end of WW2 the ratio of Bengalis to Punjabis and Pukhtoons in the Army wasn't even worthy of mentioning.

The same was the case with the Civil Services and much more so in fact because the Hindu Bengalis were more represented in the Civil Services than the Muslim Bengal and most of them left for East-Bengal at the time of the Partition. I can't seem to remember the name of the author or the name of the book either for that matter but a year or two ago I read a book written by the guy who started the Civil Services of Pakistan and he detailed, with generously well-referenced figures, of how lop-sided the Bengali representation in the Civil Services were at the time of the Partition and how ironically enough it was during Ayub Khan's ministry when Bengalis were inducted in the Civil Services and the Army on an accelerated basis by relaxing the standards for them.

And this, by the way, was happening in a developing country where a myriad other grievances and problems remained unsolved.

So try to look at it from a more panoramic view instead of in such a vacuum; so less Bengalis in the Army :( baaad....baaad West-Pakistani ! :(

There was a reason why they were so less and it wasn't because of the undying hatred of the West-Pakistani towards the Bengali !

Mughals fought against Afghans and Pashtun, who are terrorist among them per your logic?
Many Pakistanis have this perennial confusion over "freedom fighters" and terrorists. Whom the world lauds as freedom fighters, they call terrorists. But whom the entire world classifies as terrorists, they call "freedom fighters". So hizb-ul-this and harkat-ul-that and lashkar-e-this and lashkar-e-that are all "freedom fighters", fighting in faraway places, which goes against the concept of freedom fighting for one's own land. But nation builders, people who's resistance created new nations with the will of the people, are terrorists for them.

You are going to have a long, assiduous task, trying to explain the difference between freedom fighting and terrorism to most Pakistanis.

Bengalis should never have picked up guns against their own states.

Even though such videos are part of history.

But they are shameful for both Bengalis and Pakistanis.

It is like one brother swearing to kill the other brother

and then his kids show such videos with pride.

Sad

p.s. How many BDeshis would love to post videos of JI goons posting videos on BD defense forums. Not many. Obviously.

Please learn some antiquates.

We are talking over each other's heads, because as usual, you confuse freedom fighting and terrorism/sedition. If all those lashkies and mujjus are freedom fighters for you, if Sikh groups like babbar khalsa that blew up airplanes and theaters are freedom fighterss for you, then there is no way for me to answer your question.

Dude, don't confuse reaction with what we did. We were responsible for starting it all, India just took advantage of our stupidity.
How many percentage of East Pakistanis even voted in 70? 30ish%... ? And don't talk shit man .. We all know how mujib n awami league Played their dirty games .. Along with Bhutto ... Read a fkin book man.. Or better yet read mujibs 6 "nakat" bullshit.

Was it our fault that Bangalis were the least educated and poor region ? Or the fact the they only produced jute and hurricanes/floods? And yeah we weren't filthy rich either... But Ayub and his successors did alot of East Pak.

I'm not absolving Mujib of anything, however, I don't need books to tell me what my elders can. I have enough raw data to make an informed choice, and I made mine long time ago. And I say this after Bengalis wanted to kill my dad and mom, majority of my uncles fought in that war, one was even seriously injured. So, why would I say the things that I say?
