You remind me of anjem choudary

I have no control on your thoughts my friend.
You can remember donald duck if you want...i dont really care.

And to clarify your ignorance.
Choudhry is the guy who talks of imposing islamic law on non muslims.
I am talking of my own right to practice my religion in my own life..
So there is your stupidity cleared.

and by "them" i mean people who hate me for me practicing my religion..i cannot please them and wont try....and 'them' may include you.

How is eating inside a restaurant amount to eating infront of faster. Why would a faster go inside a restaurant in first place?
What about office/workplace. Working people need to eat somewhere, right?

The same way Burning a Flag is, burning that poppy thing that you guys had in Britain or bringing 'God hates Gays' banners at a dead gay soldier's funerals ! None of those things are illegal but they're all deeply offensive and rightly so for they go against all norms of decency and offends the sensibilities of the society as a whole. The only difference is that whereas in those cases the society says we're going to draw a line at 'Point A'...these guys are saying we'd draw it a little further at 'Point B' i.e if there is nothing wrong with you then for godsake have the decency of not munching on a Hardees Burger or gulping down on a Pepsi, in front of someone who has been fasting for the better part of the day in the swealtering heat of the summers with a few more hours to go ! Have the common decency of doing that in private ! If one is rational then so is the other...its just the point of where you draw the line that is different and thats probably due to the different nature of how religion is perceived in our societies and how it is in the West.

Woah, plenty times, I remember eating and drinking in front of fasting Muslims and just recently realized the folly in what I did, I have started making a point of not eating or smoking when I am among Muslims now during Ramazan. But one thing I remember they never minded my doing it and when without knowing I offered them they politely refused pointing to the fact that they were fasting.

This is the true spirit of fasting and Islam. What does God say, when you do good do it for yourself do it so that when you give charity with one hand the other hand should be oblivious of your good deed.

People should show sensitivity - and most of these problems are solved, but Muslims tend to be very chilled out, if anyone is not fasting.

I am talking about 'Inside' restaurant, not outside on road.
Also, what would anybody do on workplace.
Its equivalent to asking everybody to wear poppies in public.

Exactly the point. So why would a muslim who has no reason to visit restaurant in day time, go and get offended by people eating/drinking? Are they some special exhibitionist muslim?

As I understand it, fast food restaurants & cafes may remain open in the month of Ramadan to cater to the needs of those that aren't fasting. Those that are fasting have to exercise self-control seeing as that is what Ramadan is all about. I am not implying that it should be acceptable to eat in front of individuals that are fasting without their consent. If a fasting individual has no issue with his or her's friends eating in front of him/her then so be it. There is nothing wrong with that.

However, those that aren't fasting in the holy month should be decent enough to avoid eating & drinking in front of those observing the fast. Personally, I have no issue with my friends eating or drinking in front of me during Ramadan, & there is nothing wrong with that as per the Islamic law. When a group of people are eating & drinking in cafes during Ramadan, they should be allowed to consume food to their hearts' desire. Those that are fasting must be aware of that, & refrain from going to the vicinity of the restaurants or cafes if they do not desire to be tempted by food. This is the Islamic view on the issue.

It isn't ethical to force people; including those following other religions to modify their lifestyles for the sake of the holy month. It's basically a Muslim's own responsibility to fast in Ramadan as it is essentially one of the five pillars of Islam. In conclusion restaurants & cafes should remain open provided their customers only consume food within the vicinity of the restaurants themselves. Covering the glass windows of the restaurants is a good idea too.

That naan and one kebab is supposed to feed a family of six.

All this hue and cry because the liberal elite cannot drink their lattes and eat their pastries in public for one month during the day time.

All these Nadeem Paracha followers are a disease to mankind.

As usual you will bring emotion to the topic. Other people also fast (hindus too), so it is not specific to muslims.

Most of the restraunts in Lahore are either closed or they offer food in a shutter down way ! I say again - its about where you draw the line for the rationale remains the same either way.

As for what they'd do at workplace ? Do what we do - go down to the canteen (its open !) buy something and then either eat it in our cubicles or in our cars in the parking lot ! No one has a hisy fit over whether someone is keeping a fasting or not its the impunity with one eats with such a thick hide in front of a dozen people who are fasting...that naturally ticks people off.

As for youy poppy analogy - Its in the same league as they analogies that I tried to mention ! If the society finds asking everyone to wear a poppy unacceptable then the same rationale applys to another society asking everyone not to eat in public or for the restraunts to afford some modicum of decency by not serving during the Fasting hours.

If any one want to see live example of hypocricy and double face topped with religious brain wash plz do visit the thread.
ps☻ the thing i learned today. Islam doesnt direct but dictate whether one should eat or not. Next what police wil be deployed to check whether one is offerng namaz or not. ☺☻

^^^ I still do not understand how serving food inside a resturant can inconvenience fasting people. Or are you talking of symbolism (mark of respect to fasting people? )

Why do Indians love to meddle in the affairs linked to Pakistan and Islam, mind your own business or I will bring in some shady practices of hindue's.

What if the restaurant owners or workers are fasting?

No..no I was talking about inconveniencing societal sensibilities ! I can't understand how logically it would inconvenience anyone if I were to burn a poppy when commerating the death of British soldiers of ages past and present and thereby registering my protest at the continued British presence in Afghanistan or the British role in Libya or Iraq before that...it doesn't make any logical sense ! I'm not burning his/her casket, I'm not even near you, I'm not even desecrating his/her grave afterwards ! What possible rationale could be behind the demand to ask me to leave and if I don't move to do it forefully ? Answer - Because the society finds it unacceptable ! Thats the same principle I'm applying here; the society finds such unbriddled and unabashed proliferation of food and drinks to be against the sanctity of Ramazan and therefore, keeping that in mind, they decided not to allow it anymore !

I, as someone, who doesn't fast, am inconvenienced by it but there is nothing that I can say that points towards its irrationality !
