Why he felt the need to shut the mouth of everyone else when he was sure about chastity of his wife? What was the need for him to put his wife on trails to walk on fire for random people?

why abandons his pregnant wife because one washer-man had doubt over her chastity?

yaa he was wrong..... he performed raj dharma (duty of ruler) but failed in pati dharma..... later luv n kush son of ram ji avenged the wrong done to her mother by fighting a war with ram

It was/is man world..man will never be tested by walking on fire to prove that they are faithful/pure and loyal to women while women will get punishment if they were just accused of adultery by some random people..

you can say it.... but ur point of view matters..... from rulers point of view ramji did the right thing.... you shud know ram very well knew that sita was clean but he asked her to give the fire test due to two reasons

1. to perform raj dharm , satisfy his people concerns.

2. to remove the doubt from people minds which they had against sita ji, if he wud not have asked her to give test people wud have thought her to be wrong

when sita ji passed the fire test..... ram ji requested sita ji to come back but she was hurt and left ram ji.....she knew y ram had done this but there was also a reason for that

1. to show people that in husband - wife relationship the basic foundation is that of trust.

bro when god comes to earth in human form ..... he gives us some lessons which we need to interpret i.e basic crux of hinduism

Since here open minded Muslims are discussing religion and mistreatment of wives by husbands so how about extending the discussion to mistreatment of Sauda bint Zam'ah by their prophet Muhammad..

Let's dig a bit deeper to understand and dissect their relationship.. Sounds interesting isn't it?

Because Sita was no ordinary woman. She was the Queen and she should lead by example. This is a very relevant example in modern day politics also. Those who are in public life should lead by example.

Or did he really fail ?

Should we not ask those in public life to put the interests of he country before their personal interest ? So in this case Raj Dharm clearly preceded pati dharm. Moreover he would have violated Pati dharm only if the suspicion was in his heart. But it was not in his. Kambar writes beautifully how his heart walked into the fire along with Sita during the Agni Pariksha.

I respect your opinion but he should have not let his wife suffer for others especially when he knew that she is innocent. Sita did not even need to prove that she is clean if she was kidnapped and Ravaana took her against her will. She never went with Ravana by choice. right?

2. to remove the doubt from people minds which they had against sita ji, if he wud not have asked her to give test people wud have thought her to be wrong

He was more worries about people than his wife. He made his people happy at the cost of suffering of his wife which don't seem fair to me. His people were wrong while his wife was right and you should have taken the side of right and should have defend her

Dude if she passed the test and proved her chastity in front of everyone after walking on fire then why she got rejected later on when she was pregnant?

Lead or suffer for doing nothing wrong?

For proving she did no wrong and to highlight the pureness of heart she went through it. It was Ram Rajya where even the most fickle of the opinion of the masses was heard by the ruler and actions taken to assuage those concerns.

You are getting the sequence wrong.
Sita was sent into exile by lord Ram when she was pregnant. She stayed at Rishi Valmiki's Ashram. So in a sense she was not totally abandoned. She just left public life as a queen of Ayodhya.

Agni Pariksha happepend much later when Lord Ram met his sons in battle. It was then Lord Ram requested his wife and sons to return to Ayodhya. Sita decided to give Agni Pariksha. Also it was Sita who refused to go back to Lord Ram and took samadhi. Ram returned back to Ayodhya with his sons.

The important lesson is that people in public life should lead by example and if they have any allegations they need to clear their name and only then come back to public life. This lesson is valid in even today's world. Its just that our politicians are so shameless that they don't care. Thats why even today people ideally want to have a Ram Rajya and want to see the same values in their rulers.

At their place both Ram and Sita were right. Ram for doing the right conduct as a ruler. And Sita for not returning to Ayodhya. It is said that Ram spent the rest of his life with a broken heart.
