Rafale proposal 'effectively dead' as Dassault bid not cheapest

Before it was Lockheed Martin almost certainly (he was pushing for the MMRCA to be scrapped and for the IAF to go for the F-35), but now who knows? If I had to bet it would be the EFT consortium or SAAB- maybe both? These are the two who have initiated aggressive marketing campaigns in the past few months for their (losing) products IN INDIA and I wouldn't say it was above them to include the likes of Mr Skukla in their "marketing budgets".

The question is how much impact this kind of articles can make in the actual decision????? For sure this can put doubts in the minds of common man, which can fuel corruptions charges by opposition (who ever is in opposition)

Sadly this is my fear, the DM has proven he is intelligent but still learning the ropes and the last thing this deal needs is indecision and doubt at this stage! With the IAF lobbying hard for this I hope he and the PM are true to their word of listening to the armed forces' needs and giving them what they require. I hope his "MKI is a suitable substitute for the Rafale" was just a bargaining tactic and not what he actually believes....

Even MKIs can be made to use the job of Growlers... ask @sancho

It's easier to make the Rafale into a superior EW fighter than the Growler, than to make the F18SH into a Rafale F3+. All you need basically is to add additional high power jammers, which the French or the Israelis could easily provide, while upgrading the F18SH requires several growth map upgrades (higher thurst, EW sensor upgrades, IRST, upgraded cockpit and additional fuel). But neither does the US share their most capable EW / avionics with export customers, so that's not going to happen and why should IAF bother if they have SPECTRA and DASS on offer?

Who pays this guy is the question......

That seems to change from time to time. :)

Sirji, We are debating on a life without Rafale in this case just for discussion...

what are the other options thats Growler like.

Another Ajay Shukla report based on unnamed sources. :coffee:

ALL newspaper reports are based on unnamed sources

Does that mean you will stop reading newspapers or believing in them ? ........ or does this absurd logic extend to Ajay Shukla reports only ? :cheesy:

Oh @SpArK, you've been in the F-18 camp from the start, you still cling to the Super Hornet's chances in India, don't you?

Well, first you need to have the Growler on offer right? But that never was the case, there were a Boeing idea of Growler lite to be offered to export countries like Brazil or India, which never was approved by US government and even if, wouldn't give India anything, since the Growler lite doesn't have the ALQ99 jammers.

Besides that the main alternative for a Growler in India remains to be the MKI:

That could be an indication that he is not on anbody's payroll, don't you think?

He was open about arguing for F-35 instead of thi MRCA tamasha, and time has proven that this MRCA tamasha should have been avoided. It would have made more sense to go for a 5th gen jet, than a 4th gen jet in a 5th gen timeline and cost.

Other than that, he has not been batting for any other fighter. Even in this report, there is nothing to suggest that he is being paid by SAAB or EF consortium.

I agree with you,the sucker responsible for this whole fu*k up should be hanged from India gate :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Nope we still have a 6 billion sub tender with France & 1 more in pipeline
India is really a tolerable society. if this shit happens in China, we will accuse the person in charge.
