Rafale Fighters India is Buying Can't Match Chinese Fighters: Russian Envoy

Hi,

The purchase of Rafale was not on merit but a strategic decision----it was the only way india could cut off the sale of French electronic package and french weapons for the JF 17 aircraft---.

Pakistan and france were in an advanced stage of development of the electronics package for the JF 17----.

If it was not for that----india would have either picked the Mig35 or the Eurofighter.

Bottomline---india had no other choice if it needed to stop the sale of goods from france---its hands were and are tied---. They have to buy French---otherwise pak gets its package.

Bohhhhhhhhriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnng
Mig-35 was kicked out coz it wasn't good enough (as was your super-duper F-16). Rafale was cheaper than Eurofighter, hence deemed L1. Nobody cares about little JF-17. French avionics would have put it out of PAFs reach and it would still be swatted like a fly.

If that were true the Indians would have simply let the French deal with Pakistan and go for the cheaper ,less time consuming variant of building the numbers on their SU30 fleet. After all, this would have saved money and give them aircrafts which they knew for sure that they are "vastly superior" to French technologies in the JF17 and even Rafale.Alas, this theory sounds silly when we think that a professional Air Force which allready operates SU30's just decided out of thin air after a long selection process to spend more money on an inferior aircraft.

Russian ambassador is just being butthurt. If Russia wants to still have a share in the Indian market they should be more professional in their weapons deliveries and tech sharings. This isn't the Cold War anymore,it's a buyers market, those with good money go for the best, lately, the best aren't Russian weapons.

If you see things that way, almost 3 billion(incl. weapons) deal for M2k upgrade along with submarine deal was enough to derail Pak deal. Even Pakistan cannot afford the French which might charges billions for radar-avionics and weapons upgrade for JFT, which will erode the very first +ve about JFT, an affordable fighter.

And if you see the Indian requirement for MMRCA, it is 50% A2A & 50% A2G. A true Multi role, and the given examples of EF and Mig-35 does not fit in.

Hi,

I believe that for some reason you believe that the Rafale is an inferior aircraft---which it is not. It can compete with any other and be in the same league----.

You may disagree or agree---I care less---but the fact is that the JF 17 project is 4 to 5 years behind due to the change of mind by the French----after all those years of joint research and production. The radar and the rest of the package was ready for the aircraft---PAF had to start from scratch. It was a big setback.

BS,Rafales are really good fighters.Without Helmet mounted device+PL10,J10 series can not match rafales in a WVR fight.

Russians Diplomats need to work on advertising skills

Here what a Russian diplomat once told about MIG-35-

MIG-35 vs F-16 or F-18 ---------------------- ¶4. (S) Narayanan said a delegation from Russia's Defense Department had given him a full briefing on the MIG-35 during President Putin's recent trip to New Delhi. He said they had given him the "hard sell," claiming that the MIG essentially could hover like a helicopter. Defense Attache explained that this was an inaccurate portrayal of the MIG-35's capability, and that it was essentially the MIG-29 with some avionics changes. DCM further explained that this was an opportune time for India to work with the U.S. companies because both Boeing and Lockheed, who produce the F-18 and F-16, respectively, were from the private sector, and they could partner with Indian private companies to produce new systems. Narayanan asked that the U.S. orchestrate a similar briefing on the F-16 and F-18 as the Russian delegation had provided for India.

Russians weapons are brilliant, but they have to advertised better.

No amount of advertisement would have mattered. MiG-35 was kicked out by IAF following their technical evaluations.

True that.

Eh, what? The Rafale is superior to the SU-27 and India already operates the most advanced SU-30 i.e. the MKI.

The Russian dude is trolling, ban him please. :p:

Err......not the most advanced, not anymore at least. That spot has been snatched away by the newer more advanced Su 35BM and till the Super 30s come out it will continue to remain as such.

A bunch of insecure Indians...what'zzz matter can't swallow the truth???, Russian Ambassador represents Russia, you think he's bluffing?? he has more knowledges about the technical aspect of Su-35 and Rafale than all amateurs in this forum include you and me, He certainly has no intention to humiliate his nation by making false claims.

He was talking about Su 27,not the Su 35BM if you can read properly Mr @rse_of_the_Dragon.
