It's not really a racism in South Asia imo. American racism is between actual races, while South asian racism is more like physical appearance. Let's say similar examples can be, takla(bald) person, tall /short person, fat /skinny person, etc.

I won't really call it racism but maybe lookism discrimination.

That is why I started my post with, South Asian Racism is different, but I agree with you to a extend that the same racism/lookism applied on baldness/short height etc but when it comes to color its something which although exits but we are not courageous enough to say it outright. I know that mothers/sons/daughters outright say that they are not looking for a short height or bald guy, because I've seen many girls in Pakistan with Bald guys who drives Accord's or Land cruisers. We cannot unseen the societal push and pressure on youth towards getting fair/lighter skin to be considered beautiful. Late Zubaida Appa had a soap called Goat soap and her marketing skit was all about making girls lighter skin to be considered beautiful which is racism that light/whiter is beautiful .

Colorism exists even among the fairest lot in Pakistan where even a slightly dark sibling is considered lowly e.g. a 'haram da butt' an actual term i have heard with my own sinful ears.

Well that's not anything new. Pretty much every black American can trace their roots back to that. Most African Americans have 17-20% European DNA.

I understand your point but what I'm trying to say is that in South Asia (at least in Pakistan) it's not really a racism thing but maybe a physical attribute (still wrong though) but nothing like racism how we define in western world.

Maybe the roots of it originated because of local cast system of our pre Islamic ancestors who were divided into brahmins, kstriya, Dalit etc? (just saying not sure) example in India they consider brahmins were lighter skin and kstriya were fighters and Dalit were poor and darker shade and lower class.

its actually quite common for pakistani men in west, just like some of us smoke weed by saying it is not mentioned explicitly in quran. Though i have never met pakistani girls even the liberals one's they tend to save themselves for marriage. But the men do it alot, they know there gonna marry there cousins anyway and no one would find out, same is not the case with girls , once happened, can't be undone and that's what basically stops them
